Is beeing german a stigma? - In some situations it can be ~

Okay hey. First off, sorry for the aggresive title.

This is a shorter, post that I didnt take as much time to write, since it's kinda like a "public transportation thought" that I wanted to share. So I'm adding a beneficiari of 10% to @null

The things Im gonna talk about here thankfully never happened to me, but I know it did to friends and family members.

Im a german born in 1992, so the whole "hitler-thing" is long past by time, but yet I still feel judged my actions of the past all the time.

Im not much into politics, much less worldwide politics, but sometimes I feel like our german politican always feel they need to be the first and best to help other countries to "make up" for what happened during WW2. And maybe we do. I dont know.

When I played online games back in the day and people somehow found out that me or one of my friends is german, many times we would suddendly without warning be called "nazis". Now I know that these are typical "online-trolls" so to say, I still hated it. Many times I wouldnt even say where Im from becouse of this.

I like the english language more anyway.

Now do a thing that happens in my town, idk if that kinda stuff happens in all of germany.

Storytime:

  • an upstair neighbour, who happens to not be german is unsualy loud
  • german downstairs neighbour FRIENDLY asks that person to be more mindfull
  • gets called a nazi for saying that

Confrontations like that happen way too much. Now it could be said, that the upstair neighbour is in the wrong, and shouldnt have said so. But why is that insult the first thing people think about when they think about germans.

I dislike it.

I wasnt present during these times. I do not want to be judged by the past.

Okay Im out. ~
