The (not so) secret diary of the "worried" Dad - covid-19, homeschooling and a new baby!

DEAR DIARY
Day 49 - So this little monster was 6weeks on Monday, and what a few weeks we've had..... So this beautiful young women with 1/4pint, is her big cousin "H", and H loves nothing more than having cwtches.

It's a scary time at the moment, thinking that should the country go in to "lock down" then simple things like having a cuddle with your cousin will be off limits, but for now the family are spending as much time as we can together.

We've had sleep overs and play time, but now even the kids are starting to notice that something big is coming. Thanks to some idiots at school, 1/2pint is now petrified about washing his hands because he now thinks that germs are going to come and get him.

Let's hope a little bit of fresh air will reassure them that everything will be OK.

Day 50 - News from the school is that they will remain open, but are subject to immediate closure! Of course we're very happy to have 1/2pint home, but as things stand, both myself and Mrs W feel that the school environment is safe enough for him to continue to attend.

We would never put him in any danger and regardless of guidelines, if we felt the need would remove him ourself.... But the thing now is, if schools close for the foreseeable future, how do you keep a 4yr old entertained for prolonged periods of days and possible weeks. This will unfortunately be a daunting task for Mrs W, as my job requires me to be in work.

Day 51 - Government guidelines remain the same, all non essential travel is restricted but schools and work remain uneffected(for now).

So me and 1/2pint are down the "secret garden" getting our summer vegetables ready to be planted. If this virus outbreak leads to what I believe to be a massive global recession, then it's not too late to get some extra plants in the ground.
