And the Bullying Continues

Did You Finish the First Prompt_.png

If you know me, you know that I like peace.
But right now, my blood is boiling over!!
I just read this post by @arcange

https://peakd.com/anti-abuse/@arcange/dualpost-blacklist-identifying-steem-milkers-on-hive

All I can see is that here is a person that has power on Hive due to his big wallet and is using it to try to bully people.

Creating a blacklist of users that post to both Steem and Hive.
Threatening to downvote them and entice his friends and other users to participate in this bullying behavior.

This is just another example of an abuse of privilege!

Right now, my city is on fire - literally and figuratively because people are tired of being bullied. Being discriminated against. Being overrun by those in power.

And now this.

@arcange - you lost my respect for sure.

People, stand up to bullies and don't allow them to rule your life!!!

I am so tired of this! Why are you doing this?

Personally, I don't support Steem. I won't post or upvote or comment on it.

But that is my choice.

People are free to choose to upvote - or not - using whatever criteria they wish.

But threats of downvoting is counterproductive to the HIVE cause.

It will hurt hive more than it will hurt steem

I agree. It will hurt hive. And I don't see how this kind of behavior is in alignment with the freedom of you name it that is being shouted from the rooftops by the Hive supporters.
It is freedom as long as you do as I want you to do.
I am so freeking tired of that.
So disappointed in Hive right now!

I want you to stay past post 1,000, @mariannewest ... but I understand and respect why you may choose to leave, and if this kind of nonsense continues, a lot of us may eventually follow you.

My mind is not made up yet - but this kind of stuff is not helping me to be excited about this platform...
But I don't want to take the joy away for you!

Don't even worry about that ... as I said in my answer to Arcange, today was not the first sign that things could turn bad. Since the pandemic began, I have had to take a cold, hard look at what tends toward peace and productivity and what doesn't. Hive still is on the right side of the ledger, but I have no illusions about why Steem got into the situation it did. It is easy to blame it all on Justin Sun... but a lot of the things you said on that big post were CORRECT, and I see the some of the same pattern here as I see in the nation.

But hey: I'll take a tip from Harriet Tubman in a minute and be out. I'm not going to circle the drain TWICE with the same folks. The collapse of Steemit was trauma enough. So: I'm keeping my eyes open, and, I haven't forgotten about Uptrennd. I'm checking out some other options too. Steem too is forking AGAIN; Blurt will be with us next month.

Hive is the game I love, but it is not the only game in town. If the choice is Hive or die, I'm living on... and you feel free to do that too, whenever you need to.

I love the Harriet Tubman quote!
Uptrennd is okay. They have implemented changes now too and earnings are small. And I am looking forward to check out Blurt.
Voice is also on the horizon. Still in test mode... But might be an option. We shall see.
I don't want to lose my tribe. We have become friends here and that is why I still keep coming back...

Well said ... are you a witness? I have not voted for may witnesses but this thing is pointing to the importance of doing so.

Thanks. No, I'm not a witness. I do vote for @arcange. He does some great work for Hive.

Alas ... I do not feel comfortable voting for him now. The downvote function is one I do not entirely agree with and certainly one that I think should only be used for its intended purpose. Not a fan of threats and intimidation either. The current world state has made it clear to me the values that I hold hear ... oddly, or not so oddly libertarianism and freedom have never been more important to me. If you get my drift. Currently I support the curating groups but I will have to keep my eyes peeled for more like-minded folks.

Nothing I admire more is person capable of changing their mind and has ability to re-evaluate their behaviour. So I took your advice and gave @arcange a witness vote.

I could paraphrase your whole comment. Were you a witness, I would have voted for you too.
Thank you @prydefoltz

It is certainly bullying. I wrote a lengthy response. Check it out if you have time. I

My response to Arcange

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

your response made me cry. I know that you and I see the world in a similar way and I want to thank you for expressing it with so much beauty and love in your words.

Well, I didn't want you to have to cry ... but I started crying at the thought of people like you leaving. We need those like you here and EVERYWHERE ... but if this can't be home for people like you, then perhaps we all need to consider if this is HOME at all.

Sadly, it was in the back of my mind earlier this week... the problems that left Steem vulnerable to Justin Sun are still not fully resolved here, and we as a community still have to come to terms with our part in how a Justin Sun got a foothold. In parallel: the United States is being forced to come to terms now about why Donald Trump is in office. The U.S. will probably survive the reckoning. There is no guarantee that Hive will. I don't want to see Hive fail, which is why I spoke up, and I might not be done yet ... but I accept that when people become what they hate and pick smaller victims to victimize as they felt they have been victimized, the cycle repeats and destruction ensues again.

I agree with you and I am hoping that you are right - that the US will survive Trump. I am just not sure about that- but am hoping...

Rather than starting an endless discussion here by confronting our respective perceptions, I made another post.
If you're ever interested to read it...

And to paraphrase you: "If you know me, you know that I like peace"

Arcange apologized here, and I gently let him know that was a start, but not a finish here

I saw his apology and will check out your comment. I didn't think that he was done yet - or got what I was saying to him (and many others in the comments). But I wanted to sleep over it before going into depth why his blacklist is so upsetting and harmful.

To borrow an analogy from a very unpopular portion of Christian doctrine in a narcissistic society: an apology is not a REPENTANCE, that is, a real understanding and acknowledgment of wrongdoing and a TURNING FROM IT. We have an apology. That's a lot for people to do nowadays by itself. I was receptive to that. Yet I also pointed out that ACTIONS need to be addressed ... a gentle nudging toward a definite REPENTANCE.

Thank you! And I agree, An apology might be a first step, but without action, it is nothing.
