Bozzlife: #wednesdaywalk and some more downvote talk

avatar

Yesterday, I wrote this post detailing my dive into the "Chicken Sandwich Wars", and some downvoting that has been taking place because of @steembasicincome.

While I encourage you to read my post if you haven't already, more importantly, I think you should take a look at the comments from that post yesterday.

There was some really great discussion and @josephsavage referenced some conversation that has been taking place in the Steem Basic Income server.

I was hoping to get a clear reply from @mmmmkkkk311 about why they are downvoting posts that use SBI. It appears they are not very active besides this automated downvote that is taking place.

I have no intention of getting into a flag or downvote war with anyone. My stake is far to small to ever win any confrontation like that. A good point was brought up though: The people who have merely been gifted small amounts of SBI shares are the ones that are really suffering from these downvotes.

Personally, I have invested quite a bit into SBI. I have a large number of shares and I delegate to them because I believe in the project and I support what they are doing. There were times that my delegations to other projects and my investment in SBI were the only things that allowed my posts to gain any rewards.

If you want to downvote me, that is cool, I can take the hit, but please don't downvote those whose only crime is having been gifted SBI shares. Being successful on Steemit is a hard road and the last thing we need is more roadblocks for legitimate authors.

#Wednesdaywalk

@slobberchops is one of the first people I have ever met on Steemit. I feel like we have shared a connection since our first interactions. No offense to the rest of you, but he is one of the handful of people on Steemit that I would really like to try and meet in person before I leave this Earth.

I was walking through a grocery store outside of Battle Creek, MI several weekends ago and when I hit this section of the "International Food Aisle" I knew I had to take some pictures for him.

I don't know what I think is funnier. The fact that they call it "british" or the fact that they didn't bother to capitalize it. To be fair, I have a feeling the "mexican", "italian", and "asian" sections probably weren't capitalized either.

Those of you in the UK please enlighten me, is the term "British" acceptable or is it more of an American thing? I know I hear the term "British Royal Family" in the news frequently, so I have to guess it isn't that offensive.

What really grabbed my attention was when I saw the cans of @slobberchops beloved "Heinz Beans". Based on his posts, you folks apparently eat them with pretty much everything even breakfast! I am not sure what "Salad Cream" is, but I am guessing it is like mayonnaise?

IMG_20191103_073707.jpg

I was hoping to snag a bottle and a picture of the "Daddies Favourite" brown sauce that he has talked about in the past, but they only had this "HB" stuff, whatever that is. I am guessing based on the bottle it is a steak sauce similar to "A1". I could be totally wrong though.

I am going to keep this shorter than my post yesterday. This SBI thing has the potential to be a big issue as there are probably a large number of people who don't even realize they have been gifted shares. You can easily find out if you have shares in your name by visiting their Discord server and typing the appropriate command in the "bot-commands" section.

I think there is a command you can type in the comments of my post as well to see your share balance. If someone could please share that I would appreciate it.

I hope you enjoyed my #wednesdaywalk (sponsored by @tattoodjay) down the "British Food" section!

This might be of interest to you. Whether's it really delegators he's hitting remains to be seen.

Hope you can read it.. it's a little small.. if not.. see here in the comments section

'British' is acceptable, no slurs there at all.

Salad Cream is tastier than Mayo IMO, Daddies sauces.. don't bother and HP is like that A1 sauce of yours... same thing!

They don't have an American food section over here.., but do have international ones.. usually Chinese, italian etc..

but he is one of the handful of people on Steemit that I would really like to try and meet in person before I leave this Earth.

it's not gonna be in the US, they don't like me anymore but you know that already!

Yes, indeed, I know you probably will never make your way over here again. Visiting the UK is definitely on my bucket list though. Heck they have a field named after me over there so I have to visit one day!

I'm curious as to why you were surprised to see British @bozz. What did you expect to see?

HP sauce is indeed what you would call a steak sauce and is superior to Daddies in my opinion. 😁

Salad cream is like a poor man's mayonnaise. It has a quite different taste which personally I'm not keen on. We used to have it when we were kids before massed produced mayonnaise reached these shores.

Baked beans can be eaten for breakfast. Most often when they form part of a full English. However, they are also popular as a light snack when served on toast. I also have them with my fish on chips on Fridays although the other family members prefer their mushy peas.

I'd dive into a plate of beans before I would go within 100 feet (or meters) of a plate of mushy peas! I am not sure what I would have thought they should use. I guess just like we have States, USA, America, you guys have Britian, Great Britian, United Kingdom, England, etc. Ultimately I guess I would have expected them to label it as "English" food but that probably would have confused most people.

"English" is very specific and the Scottish, Irish and Welsh are not pleased when British stuff is referred to that way. And, I suppose there's no such thing as Great Britainish or United Kingdomish. So, all in all, I think British is a good choice. 😂

And, just to confuse things more, there is a difference between great Britain and the United Kingdom. I can't remember why it is without looking it up . . . again and I doubt many Brits could tell you off the top of their heads. 😂

See, I knew I would muck it up somehow :) The depth of complexity is definitely enough to make you chuckle!

Maybe you had a blissful culinary childhood @slobberchops which excluded the purgatory of an English salad, i.e. lettuce, tomato and cucumber. The salad cream was all that made it bearable and, even that, took a bit of swallowing. 😂

We in the north just ate Fish Fingers and Chips every day, none of this salad stuff!

Is salad cream more sugary than mayo?

Not in terms of taste @bozz. But it probably is in terms of ingredients. 😁

Being a Kiwi we have a lot of British things and I to will eat Baked beans at anytime, when I was single it was the main staple of my diet and about the only thing I ever cooked if heating up counts as cooking lOL, and heinz or bachelors beans are my favorites and the only ones I get, whenever I go to the supermarket with a Bristich Section, I stock up on them, and I used to always have the salad cream, but havent grabbed some for a while, but thanks to your reminder I will go and get some today to have with my Salad at lunch I do love it

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

Bush's baked beans are probably my favorite. From what I can tell their sauce looks heavier than what you get with Heinz, so that might be a bit of a turn off. For us baked beans are more of a cookout or BBQ food.

I have tried a few varieties of the Bush beans,m but its what one grows up with I guess, I prefer Heinz when I can get it :)

Ignore the haters. You are doing good work.

Cool to see some 'british' delicacies there. I love Heinz beans too. We have a US shelf in our local big supermarket with Lucky Charms, big marshmallows and other delights. There must be demand, but I've not tried them.

(Edited)

I just noticed that @mmmmkkkk311 has been flagging me for about $0.15 per post along with a few other people.

It took me a little while to figure it out, but I think it is because I had steembasicincome on my auto vote from a long time back. I actually totally forgot about it. I don't have anything delegated to them or anyone.

I don't have them on auto-vote anymore, but the damage is probably already done. I seem to be on some flagging list now. Oh well! I guess people can do whatever they want with their stake.

On a side note, somewhat ironically, @sbi7 is the top voter on most posts by @mmmmkkkk311.
