I know many are discouraged and I can't blame you or even offer any short term hope, but I do think there will be an Alt Season. I don't think it will happen until BTC surpasses its all-time high. I do think we will be included in the alt season, but that's not financial advice.
Meanwhile, this would be a great time for us to start to make plans on how to get people saying our name. When I joined in 2016 there were tons of other new users as well, but people were talking about us.

We need people to say our name, we need Steemians to go on Crypto podcasts or do stunts anything to get people saying our name.
New financial incentives are coming, and while I am highly concerned, I am hoping for the best and bracing for a shocked community when the reality of it all hits.
I hate to say it, but I don't think we have reached our lowest point yet.
Some say Steem is dead, I say, no... We are self-correcting, but there will be a point that Steem is a buy again. We just haven't hit it yet. That works okay for me.

Using the past as an view to the future, which isn't always a good idea, STEEM will do something at the end of alt season.
For those of us overweight on STEEM, this is clearly the opposite way that we'd want but as long as there is some action I'm OK with that.
Yeah, I also think we will shake out some of the "Get Rich Quick" people.
There is a lot of garbage and crap in the top 80, steem is excluded...primarily because it is not currently in the top 80, but also because it is arguably a great project with some bad press and tough times.
I never thought it would get this bad, but I've now got more Steem than ever before. Let's stop the FUD together.

I think we are still over priced. I can not buy in without being devalued by large investors selling and wanking.
I personally believe it's imminent. The tipping point should be getting closer as we approach closer to mid-end of August this month. And of course I could never be precise in right timing but current BTC/ALT ratio is a bit too exaggerated. (which could be a good thing if you've been riding along BTC all this time)
Wouldn't it be great to find the perfect time to buy back into steem when the price of BTC is high and we are low.

Many of us have claimed for marketing strategy before implementing any other dev improvements but seems this is not priority. Instead, many other altcoins are doing it while having exactly the same offer in terms of product.
Now we all expect that new HF21 will fix something but what would happen if not?...maybe then we change the strategy.
We definetely should! We aim at decentralization and steem is the best (in my knowledge) decentralized organisation tool we have yet!

Bloody thing bounces up and down like a yo yo. Doesn't stay still long enough for me to make a decision, and I'm rubbish at making decisions. I still bought when it was lower so if I sold now I'd make a profit, figure I'm in the black anyway so may as well wait to see if it might nudge up just a wee bit - but then, do I sell or hodl, see, this is why I dont trade crypto lol
Yeah I hear you! I started doing a little bit of active trading and made a few mistakes but my biggest success from luck really, was selling a bunch when it spiked up to the high, 13k last month. Now I’m waiting for lower, though where do I buy back in and how much is my conundrum. Without using a script or an automation it’s very challenging to know.
Since you’re in Australia you may be able to use Binance, they let you set up automatic buys and automatic sells, if you’re interested. The stupid US doesn’t allow me to do that, because they don’t want us doing what the rich do easily.
It does seem to be pure luck sometimes!! Im too scared to sell and usually buy on a whim so Im hopeless!!! 20k for the sell. 🤞🤞🤞

Nothing is stopping Bitcoin
I think most everyone would agree btc will have another serious dip.. Steem is by no means impervious to the decline of btc.. We don't see much rising correlation because these pumps are artificial and the more dramatic they are the more pronounced the fall.. Imagine btc falling to 6k which is definitely plausible, steem would likely follow that trend down to 10 or 11 cents as well..
I'm not a btc maximalist exactly but I'm skeptical of how there can be a season of alt when most of it is pure trash.. Steem is an exception IMHO. I wouldn't go banking on steem being caught up in some alt hype, we should be removing ourselves from that party as a chain with some purpose and actual potential.. If there is ever an alt season there will be a massive consolidation, this is why competition such as voice is the best thing possible. The weak junk will not survive as more and more people become somewhat learned about blockchain and crypto...

I don't think HF21 is going to have an immediate effect on price. I think it will improve the distribution of rewards, which will help with retention. The SPS could fund initiatives that will help onboard more people. We just need to be patient.

That's always difficult to predict. An improvement in the distribution of rewards should attract more people to the Steem ecosystem if supported by good marketing. Even then, it does not mean that the people we attract will buy a lot of Steem.
I think that HF21 is going to be some what of a train wreck before it is anything else.
Sometimes we need to destroy something so it can be rebuilt... Even at low prices, there is value being created through the community.

Absolutely. We need to shake the "get rich quick" crowd.
Low prices can be a blessing in disguise; shaking off the weak hands, leaving the Steem to the hands of those who see the value beyond the dollar sign in front of it and do good for the platform. Despite the declining price, Steem has had continuous development throughout the bear market which seems like a bullish sign to me. The lower we go, the more attractive it becomes to buy.

It's hard to shill STEEM atm, people inside the space only care about BTC because it's going up, and non-crypto ppl think everything crypto is a scam because of the whole bear market...

Steem has the ability to market to non-crypto people, we just haven't.

We cannot lose confidence or faith. About a year ago I read a letter from you where you said that the community could make a difference, that we would stay animated and until today I remember it.
It may be necessary to fall completely, then resurface like the phoenix, but much of this resurgence I think will depend on the confidence that each of us place on steem, I still do not lose faith, sometimes I think I know nothing I can do more to collaborate, but I continue to learn and try to encourage those I can to see what I see in this chain, which I continue to love, as I told you a year ago. Maybe if steemit, busy, steempeak,eSteem,Partiko add features like guest account help a lot(steempress do that)... Currently we can't call people to steem and tell them pay for a account... Priority n° 1 must be light account!
Another big problem, trending, why trending parameter is payout? Why aren't posts with alot comments? When someone visits steemit for example, it feels like a poorly accessed site because of the lack of comments in trending page...
The delay to implement new features kills any business...
