Seeking the blesser and not the blessings

Sunday was the first Sunday Service of the month of August. How time flies eh? I can not still believe it is the eighth month of the year 2020 already. Anyways, as usual, our Pastor released the theme for the month titled The month of double blessings. Everyone including myself was excited to hear this and all answered Amen but he went ahead to preach a very powerful message titled Seeking the blesser and not the blessings. This one really got me thinking a lot and looking at my life.

I am sure most people in that service when they heard the theme were looking forward to a month of God's blessing falling down on them and with that mindset will have their minds so focused on what they will receive but what about the one giving it? Will our minds be focused on him or just on the blessings he is going to give? This is a big problem in the Church today. When God says he will bless his people, their minds shift from him and immediately focus on the blessings. Even when he finally does, their whole attention is fixed on keeping and holding on to the blessing.

But what about the blesser? How is your relationship with him going? He says in his word in Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Instead of focusing on the blessings that will run out, keep your eyes on the blesser and he will keep blessing you. Isn't that a much more sensible thing to do? Our pastor's message was indeed a challenging one and made so much sense. I know it might seem difficult and we often lose track of God sometimes but that doesn't mean we have to give up trying. His word says in Phil 4:13 that we can do all things through him who strengthens us.

He is able to do more exceedingly, abundantly all that we could ever ask or think. In this month of August, I would like whoever is reading this to take up the challenge and keep your eyes, focus and energy on the blesser and not the blessings. You might have the blessing and lose the blesser. But if you have the blesser, the blessings follow him and you will surely get them too. Stick close to the blesser folks and enjoy double blessings in this month of August.
God bless.

We are all praying for all affected by the incident in Beirut, Lebanon. May God strengthen and heal them all. Amen
