DON'T DRIVE ME WITH YOUR ENERGY!

You can't dispute what God has acknowledged. Your strength is not my strength; the energy God gave you, He did not give me. Your area of grace is different from mine. All animals are not equal, but each plays an important role to keep the circle of life going. Don't call anyone lazy, simply because you are stronger or more intelligent. God created us differently.

Growing up in the ghetto, we played out in the streets with other kids daily and our plays were very physical. Some boys and girls are born naturally stronger than others. Back in those days, we had special nicknames for those stronger kids, like: Stone hand, Rocky, Strong bone, Iron fist, Heavy machine, Lion, Tiger etc. The build, energy or strength of such kids are not due to any extra efforts, especially at that initial stage.

1Thessalonian 5:14 has this to say "Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men." Did the Bible say, 'Support the weak?'

The packaging of men from birth is not what anyone can determine. Some are born strong, some feeble and some weak. Most gifts that people boast about are natural endowments. Some very intelligent people are not physically strong either. But this should not in anyway encourage indolence nor exclude self-improvement and development. The point is that those who are endowed should be grateful to God much more; rather than feel superior or make others feel less than they are.

Looking at Esau and Jacob from their early years, it was obvious that Esau was stronger, full of energy, prompt to business and a no nonsense man. Jacob on the other hand, could go for a lazy, good for nothing young man. But a closer study of him, reveals a man of wisdom, insight and strategy. In the passage we read, Esau wanted to drive Jacob and his tender family at his own energy level. Jacob however, was wise enough to know his own capacity and the state of those in his company, so he persuaded his brother to go ahead while he followed at his own pace.

It smacks of insensitivity, to want people to be like you or operate at your level or capacity. They are not you and you cannot be them. It's a sign of pride, to boast of your drive, energy or ability and to shame others; on account of what they have no control over. Some successful people boast of sleeping only four hours a day. That is commendable, but not a criteria for success.

If you don't have that energy, sleeping only four hours a day could lead to early grave. Life requires wisdom and a balance to be happy and fulfilled. Know your strength, ability and level of grace. Improve on yourself, but don't drive yourself or others to death before time. Be considerate on those who are less endowed than you, because they could have something you don't have, but which you may need. Life is give and take. If you give without grumbling, you will receive without struggling.

God bless you!

The Greatest is Love!!!
