Welcome Hive Communities... to the Main Websites!

Believe it or not, today is the day when officially the Hive Communities have been rolled out!

But they have been with us for a while... With a smaller group ever since the beginning of November, since the SteemFest 4, with most of us from a later date when they became fully opened.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this banner at the top of steemit.com:

Personally, I almost forgot main interfaces existed lately... I was reminded every once in a while.

So, today I switch back from betas to the main interfaces together with the roll out of Hive communities, which happened practically almost simultaneously on steemit.com and steempeak.com.

Since I've been involved in testing of the new features of SteemPeak, I know them and the immense innovative potential we can expect. Give them feedback! They need it, and it's often when a good idea turned into a feature or improvement soon after.

What I didn't know was how will communities look on steemit.com at launch time.

So, I headed over to check it.

First of all, the banner is not removed yet from steemit.com and no updates have been posted regarding the roll out, so it may still be happening, if it's done in stages.

The message kind of hints to a process that won't finish quickly:

We're beginning to roll out communities. Stay tuned for updates.

Let's see what I discovered so far. My apologies if some changes were rolled out earlier, I didn't use steemit beta lately.

  • no new types of communities added yet
  • a search for communities and filter were added to the Explore communities page image.png
  • some bugs were fixed (for example, "PINNED" is placed in a visible position)
  • uploading the profile picture and cover image is back on steemit.com from steemitwallet.com, in the Settings menu

  • I made a guide a few days ago and SteemitWallet.com didn't integrate Steem Keychain. Now SteemitWallet does too, not only steemit.com, as you can see in the image below. And that for me is very good news, especially given the uncertainly after the sale of Steemit, Inc.! image.png

That's what I discovered compared to what I already knew from the steemit beta. And I'll be waiting for some updates, because in my opinion and based on previous communications with @roadscape, new types of communities shouldn't be that far ahead.
