Fascia and Rafters - November 9, 2019 @goldenoakfarm

Temp 13F crop November 2019.jpg

It was 13F at 7AM on Saturday morning. I thought for sure he’d wait it out. But no, it was sunny and he went out.

He was intent on getting the fascia boards onto the ends of the rafters. He did this west side first because he had the weird angles thing to deal with in the corner. I had to help him with the big board, and all the ones on the east side too.

I got tired of going up and down stairs every 15 mins, so I got dressed and went out and starting cleaning up his work area, between trips up the ladder.

I got 2 grain sacks of small kindling and stacked the stuff needing split at the end.

The long counter between sink and stove, 9’ long (sage, basil, rosemary)

Then I went upstairs and made this backsplash of the tiles. I was worn out from the cold and bending over, as I am still dealing with a sore throat.

There’s to be a 3’ backsplash behind the copper sink, 6” high. It will be built of 2” x 4” so the sides and top are only 4” wide. The top of the rest of the wall will have the plain 4” tiles on it. (The photos of tiles weren’t exactly 6” and 4” which is why the size discrepancy.)

The color of the plain tiles is really much nicer than it looks here.

While I was doing that, he was scabbing on rafters to the existing roof.

Fortunately, we have more shingles from this roof, so they will match.

He got the last fascia board on those rafters with my help and called it a day.

He said he wasn’t happy with the weird angles corner and planned to redo it on Sunday morning, then start getting plywood on the rafters.
