(Edited)

Hello dear Steemians friends !

Today, we decided to make a royal sea bream in a salt crust ! It's one of the simplest recipes I've ever seen and used to cook fish !

First of all, buy good fish, and by that I mean fresh fish! That's essential! Get some good coarse salt that is a little grey, i.e. not too refined.

Make sure you have a dish the size of your fish and rinse it under cold water. Make a carpet of coarse salt, about 1.5 cm thick, at the bottom of your dish, put the fish on it and start covering it always with the same thickness of coarse salt !

Bake in your oven preheated to 190° and when the salt crust starts to brown and hard : it's done !!!

Break the salt crust, wipe the fish and serve (with a tian of vegetables for example :)

Thai people BBQ salt encursted fish here in the local markets - always such a simple and yummy and fresh way to cook. Only difference here is the fish is alive in a big plastic tub when you choose it - keeps the Asian food poisoning out of the equation and means it is SOOO FRESH and SOOOO good! A big enough fish for 2 costs me about $4. :)

Thanks for sharing this method of cooking. I was wondering if the fish would turn out too salty?

yey ! thanks for your comment and support !
nope, most of the salt remains in the skin and then you remove it when it’s ready :))
I hope you’re good dear !
