I Heart OCD
Inktober is now over, it's time for Inkvember, a tremendous opportunity to work on unfinished prompts and ideas left to the side. This challenge is only for those who persevere through thick and thin. I am far from certain that I will take it on but it is certainly going through my mind. I even have some 2018 drawings to work on should I choose to brave through Inkvember!
I want to encourage our one and only @veryspider to keep allowing her beautiful story in drawings to unfold this month. It is a heart warming journey to be on.
This month would not have been the same without the outstanding curation from @OCD.
Wow! Thanks to your support with Inktober, many artists have been rewarded, a much needed encouragement for Steem to keep flourishing with creativity through the unique perspective of different artists.
I am personally extremely proud to have been noticed and uplifted through @OCD's Inktober posts, it feels good and only makes me want to spread the love.
Of course I had a blast and made more time for drawing than I had in ages. Let's go through the creations which were featured by this wonderful curation team shall we?
I was very excited for this drawing event to begin and spent a lot of time thinking about this particular prompt which explains why the different meanings of ring are layered like this. It was an intuitive process done in a class I teach along with my students, working from images on my tablet.
Ring
An ambush came to mind for bait so why not mix my own original character with a dog/wolf style inspired by Frank, francophone comic book celebrity? Effectively throwing them in the middle of an untold adventure. It is challenging to make an entire comic, yet riveting to jump to the middle of a story with an illustration which could easily serve as a panel in a fully fledged graphic novel.

I am really taking a liking to mixing India Ink with fine line work. While the brush allows for a looseness and economy, the fine liner allows structure and emphasis on the shapes through outline. I liked working on the pencil too for which I feel like I did a good job!
Here is a little bonus, a moment in time...
With an internet phenomenon like Inktober, it's easy to become really competitive. With ink, it is impossible to erase without covering or destroying the paper.
Social media should be there to show our best work, there is no doubt. It takes another kind of courage to show ordinary drawings, thus demonstrating how challenging drawing can be. This can be done by simply stepping out of one's comfort zone, like for this drawing where I copied the pencil with ink on the next page of my sketchbook as opposed to going over the lines.
Here is a Steemian who has produced a terrific body of work for Inktober
I find @eyedrip's narrative very interesting because it thinks outside of the box. It unfolds in a surreal universe that often feels lonely with the main antagonist being time itself. The technical skill displayed in this daily slow boiler epic is absolutely breathtaking so take a look.

I thoroughly enjoyed looking at the art which this month has brought to me like an amazing bounty. We have a beautiful community here and it's worth it to spread the word about it across all your favorite social media platforms out there. Inktober was such an opportunity for me and it was, as always, a pleasure.
I didn't know before Inktober before but really cool initiative that allowed me to discover a lot of talent on Steemit including you @edouard or @shimozurdo for example. Thumb up...

Thank you!
Aw man! Thank you thank you thank you! I really appreciate it. I love the idea of a challenge but inktober always felt too daunting. And I totally agree - I’m glad to see we have a blooming (and booming) creative community, continuously working on their craft. That, in itself, serves as a massive encouragement.
