Fun day with kiddo

Spent most of today with @loch at Shane's Inspiration, an inclusive playground in Griffith Park.

What a fantastic playground. It has two ziplines, including one with a seat you buckle into that he enjoyed like a rollercoaster! Huge swings with the same kind of security features, so he got to experience some real wild swinging safely. He shared a few toys with some other kids and one kid even let him ride her scooter. Lots of musical banging things, and I know what you're thinking. Those are always terrible. They never sound like the tone they're supposed to, just a sharp muffled clang. But these ones weren't like that! They rang out clearly! And the drum really reverberated! Very cool.

My one peeve about this playground is that there's one piece of equipment that's so long that for me, his adult, to stay with him without clambering up on a platform that's not made for a person my size, I have to legit run to make any good time. There's no easy way to duck under it or go through. It's never actually been a problem, but I worry.

Anyways, after playing for a couple hours, he was ready for snack. He ate all the grapes and strawberries, rejected the bread, then asked for some other food. So we drove to a drive-through, but he was asleep by the time we got there. I saved him the fries he wanted, but when he woke up, he was upset that we weren't eating AT a restaurant, which is not something we do anyways during covid. Certainly not on a whim. But I took him to an outdoor cafe to eat his fries. And then he started talking about pretzel sticks, but we've never fed him pretzel sticks, so I was baffled, but he got me to agree to get some at the grocery store. But then he talked about dipping them in chocolate, and it clicked. Yes, there was a, like, pretzel and nutella snack pack once. He didn't eat the pretzels, just the nutella, @stinawog tells me, because she fed him that. So really he wanted nutella.

Anywhoodles. That was my day mostly.
