Sea glass Art

We made our last trip to the beach and collected a lot of sea glass. We had the idea of creating little paintings for our families. There was a few families in the group so we collected as much as we could find and grouped it up for a future get together.

Later on we got together and made some art to represent our families and things we love.

Really love how these came out, some of them have a lot of personality.

These make fantastic gifts and decorations for the house and are really cheap to make. It's not too late to get to your local beach and collect some sea glass for your own. If you do, leave a picture of your creation in the comments.

I am remembering old times. For a school project we managed to grind glass of various colors to make a tap with glue and glass dust.

Beautiful. My favorite: the mermaid with a cute belly 🌞

Those are actually really profound.
There's so much time "captured" in those stones and glass. Their endured existence transfers well as representation of life. It's really captivating.

I think with a complete backdrop (eliminate blank canvas) and filled with clear resin to seal it for eternity these would sell well at a craft market and even online.

There's something mystical about representing ourselves (human and environment) in miniature form. It's like a "god perspective" like those broken pot mini fairy gardens that have become really popular.

Not too far off from some of the mosaic art projects I was looking at while brainstorming some grab-and-go quarantine craft kits for the library. You might want to get your hands on some grout and try making some more permanent decorations in that style.
