Have You Ever Felt.....Disconnected?
Remember a few days ago, I let everyone know I'd be back online with 'normal' internet speeds.....
That was so June 30th....
Today the 'better' internet service provider came by our new home and as soon as they learned I was from out of province, they quickly packed up their gear and 'ran' out of the home...
Covid concerns are a big deal in Newfoundland, as they haven't had an active case in months.
So what does this mean for me?
I'm stuck on the 5 MBPS download and 0.80 MBPS upload until July 16th....
It's beyond frustrating as I still have 2 videos to upload from my trip but uploading on these speeds just can't happen.
I've got a few options though....
I'll drive around town and find some hot spots, and piggy back off some internet with 'decent' speeds and see if I can upload them this week or next.
I'll also try to 'live stream' tonight on my cell phone...Hoping I find a decent spot with good signals.
But then there is always this option too....
I started to unpack all my books and hey....I can always re-read some of my favorites :)
Moving is always a stressful event, but I'll make the best of it. My wife and sons will be here right around the time I get 'decent' internet again...Which is funny right?
The time I really need good internet to FaceTime and see them, I'll be without....As soon as I get good internet, they will be here!
So apologies again for the lack of videos, uploads and live streams....I've got a few more weeks of being in 1995!
Until then....It's text based post from me and a whole lot of whining about how bad the internet is here LOL
Hope you are all staying safe and keep pushing through all this COVID madness!
I can feel your frustration with the current situation... I had a similar experience when I have moved to my apartment... I have "ordered" Internet and they had a timeframe of 30 days to INSTALL it... and, oh boy... they came on day 29?!?! and the only job that I had was my online business...
I've got a couple of ideas about how to cope with your problem... :)
Create an animated GIF? 😂
And to "kill your spare time", maybe you can WRITE a book? I know that you have done the first one a couple of years ago... Maybe it is a time for the SECOND one?
On the other side... It's nice to have you back... Written words aren't so bad... ;)
ha ha ha I have always said I need to write another book...Got my coffee and some great views...Might do that!
Dang, that sucks you are struggling without proper internet. It's amazing how our whole perspective changes when we are without something we are used to having. I become impatient when my wi-fi has a hiccup so I can only imagine your frustration...
However, I DO like your perspective about unpacking, re-reading your books & maybe just using this tough situation for self reflection, resting (I mean, come on, you must be tired!), etc. When your wife & kids arrive, I think things will flow so much better for you.
It is good to be safe, as I hope you are as well, but sometimes extreme fear really gets in the way. It's unfortunate but I know you will #pushon regardless. Just hang in there & remember, if you need anyone to Pixie Stomp any hot spots out for you, let me know! 😉 💙
True true! The funny thing is, once they get here....I have another 14 days of isolation with them LOL
Could be a lot worse....First world problems.
And the fun continues....
This will make for an epic book 🤣🤣
Internet is now become a basic necessity and I hope you will be able to cope it without any stress.
PS: I become very restless if my wifi connection drops or become slow, it just become a part of my life.
Agreed...Yeah it's not bad....I'm just whining now lol
July 16th still a long day to come
An eternity it seems...
But think back to those days back when your phone didn’t have internet...
Anyway, it’s great to hear from you again, whether in text or video format.
Yeah I'll keep banging out the content via text....The internet here at least allows me to do that LOL
I know I said it earlier but you are dealing with this so well. I am not so sure that I would be able to do the same given the same situation. I would absolutely have to keep finding ways to stay busy and productive to not think about it. Hope the two weeks goes quickly for you to have your family there with you and safe and your internet hooked up.
I might have a fix early next week...Hope so at least! Fingers crossed.
Hope you do, Jon! Sorry I missed the Thursday Night Live this time! I didn't think there was going to be one so I wasn't looking for it! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! 😀
they had masks and gloves on sounds more like they were to dang lazy to do the work than anything to do with Covid, and just used it as an excuse! Oh well good time for you to re write your book, and maybe write a new one.
Nah this is the maritimes man....No lazy people here. They are just super careful.
Well now you will have more time for unpacking... You can still do a lot of curation and text posting. The video's can wait, happy to hear you are safe and getting settled. Was the current Internet connection already setup in the house?
Thanks man, yeah there was...But it was super old and needed to be updated...So they wont update it until the 'quarantine' is up.
Wow that sucks bad Jon, going back to the past millennia for a while, on the other hand you might find yourself or something, stay awesome.
Oh i'll entertain myself for sure 😀
All those books in that little U-Haul trailer?
LOL 900 lbs of them LOLOL
Lol.
The time will go by before you know it. It sucks for now but this will only make you and your family stronger in the end. Keep the faith and everything will fall into place.
For sure....Already been here 4 days lol Time is flying.
It's like unbelieveable that such internet speeds still exist in the developed world... Good luck, hope you find a nice hotspot somewhere ;-)
Well upon further review....We've come to find out my mom hasn't updated her modem in......7-8 years LOL
That explains it 🤣
