You can not have it all
While my Swiss exit is getting closer by the week, the appreciation also is growing by the week again. The views just never get boring and then the thoughts of my new home landscape come popping up in my head. Flat, grey, everyone in a hurry....I mean, there was a reason why I left Holland right?
I am a landscape dreamer but I am also a social animal, and this often collides. And that is the thing with the landscapes. You can look at them and be in them and enjoy, but somewhere it stops. It does not forfill me enough. First world issues right?
I once saw the saying somewhere 'Life would be so much better if the Caribbean would be next to Holland' and the same goes for Switzerland actually. I love how it is organized and I really love the nature that is literally only a minute walk away from me. Same as that I loved gazing over the ocean in St Martin and talking the dog for walks on the beach on a daily basis. But as said, you can not have it all
Yesterday it was pouring over here which was really depressing, but the good thing is with these Alps next you, you get snow back in a return for it. In the Caribbean you have storms sometimes and a non organized country, but you get the endless Summer in return for that. In Holland you have a very sweet liberal state and my family closeby, but there are no mountains and not azurblue seas. You can not have it all. It is just how it works.
Wherever you are, you have to accept what is there and make the most of it. If you aren't happy with it, make change. Easier said than done, I am fortunate enough that I have a passport which allows me to work almost everywhere, and a job profession that brings the same. Not everybody is in this fortunate position and I realize that. Realizing that is enough to find it okay that you can not have it all.
