Apparently, I’m an old sod already and one of the things I’ve ditched in recent years is going to eat out. It just isn’t fun anymore, may as well grab a burger at a fastfood joint.

Some background: in a previous life, as a traveler, I’ve spent hours and hours every day in bars and bistros, both working and ”living”. The latter meaning that living outside of my home has always been a part of the culture. Not like your stay at home professional blogger squatting a coffeeshop for free WiFi, no. But for extended brunch, waking up pretty much, and when not working extended dinner time with good drinks.

In last two decades the food culture has changed though, also due to gentrification and its always increasing leases making survival always more cutthroat for restaurants and bars. As such it has become normal that the horrible “services” culture has taken over and one’s time at a table is limited because the table is required for the next “service”, reservation ASAP.

Gentrification and new “lifestyle” is now also taking its toll on the Spanish food culture.
