El aprendizaje es un continuo infinito que inicia y acaba con nuestra vida

Learning is an infinite continuum that begins and ends with our life

Solo imaginen, aprendemos un conjunto de movimientos cíclicos y repetitivos que se convierten en caminar, aprendemos un conjunto símbolos ordenados sistemáticamente que se convierte en palabras, y así podría continuar con muchísimos ejemplos.

Cuando pensamos en la palabra aprendizaje, inmediatamente nos viene a la mente el que recibimos por un sistema educativo o tal vez algún curso que hayamos hecho. En ambos casos, nos viene a la mente una institución.

¿Qué pasa cuando las ansias de aprender vuelan y no es posible entrar a una institución?

Just imagine, we learn a set of cyclical and repetitive movements that become walking, we learn a set of systematically ordered symbols that become words. I could go on with a lot of examples.
When we think of the word learning, immediately it comes to mind that we receive it through an educational system or perhaps some course we have taken. In both cases, an institution.
What happens when the desire to learn flies and it is impossible to enter an institution?

Ese ha sido mi caso en muchas ocasiones...

That has been my case on many occasions...

He tenido que aprender por mi cuenta, quisiera compartir lo que ocurrió durante los primeros semestres de mi carrera: tuve una compañera con discapacidad visual que no recibía la información completa de lo que estaba escrito en la pizarra, y en psicología es bastante.

A medida que el semestre avanzaba, las clases se volvían cada vez más cargadas de contenido y el contenido de la pizarra aumentaba. Es allí cuando me acerque a ella para ofrecer ayuda; me orientó sobre cómo usar su plancha, su punzón y me dejó una guía de las letras.

I had to learn on my own, I would like to sahre what happened during my first semester at university: I had a visually impaired colleague who didn't recieve the full information from the board, in psychology that's a lot.
As semester progressed, the content od the board increased. That's when I approached her to offer help; she guided me on how to use her table ("plancha"), punch ("punzón") and left me a guide to the letters.

Me agotaba, pasé noches transcribiendo presentaciones de power point que podían ayudarla, en clases escribía a medida que la profesora escribía en la pizarra, una vez me pidieron transcribir un exámen. Pero me alegre muchísimo cuando noté había aprendido braille, allí sentí que podía aprender muchas más cosas por mi cuenta.

I was exhausting, I spent nights transcribing PowerPoint presentations that could help her, during class I wrote as the teacher wrote on the board, once I was asked to transcribe a test. But I was so happy when I noticed that I learned Braille, there I felt that I could learn many more things on my own.

A medida que leía y buscaba sobre cosas que a mí me interesaban, me daba cuenta que me estaba conociendo y que desarrollaba habilidades que antes sólo me imaginaba (saludar en alemán, por ejemplo).

Y este mismo buscar indagar, explorar en tantas áreas del saber, es donde fui descubriendo gustos desconocidos, hobbies que se convirtieron en pasión y actividades que no sabía qué podía hacer. Así que amé ser autodidacta, estudiaba lo que me gustaba, cuándo quería y al ritmo que necesitaba.

As I read and searched about things that interested me, I realized that I was getting to know myself and developing skills that I had only imagined before (greeting in German, for example).
And in this investigation, where I explored so many areas of knowledge, is where I discovered unknown tastes, hobbies that became a passion and activities that I did not know what I could do. So I loved being self-taught, I studied what I liked, when I wanted and at the pace I needed.

La manera en que me dí cuenta que el autoaprendizaje me llevo a un crecimiento personal, fue cuando en este punto de mi vida pude ver todas las habilidades que he desarrollado. En mi caso fueron: volverme más social, confirmar que me gusta ayudar a otros y reconocer mis estilos de aprendizaje.

Aún me queda mucho por aprender.

Realmente invito a todos los que lean mi post a atreverse a hacer cualquier actividad que quieran hacer, con constancia y esfuerzo puede convertirse en algo genial. Próximamente, espero compartirles cómo aprendí a aprender, para que -si no lo han hecho ya- se animen a aprender por su cuenta cualquier cosa.

The way I realized that #self-learning led to personal growth, was when at this point of my life I could see all the skills I have developed. In my case they were: becoming more social, confirming that I like to help others and recognizing my learning styles.
I still have a lot to learn
