Thai Photo Contest: morning scenery in Nongkhai,ตอนเช้าที่หนองคาย

This is my entry for #thaiphotocontest61 hosted by @thaiteam. The train arrives very early in Nongkhai station. Sometimes the whole place would still be dark as the train arrived earlier than schedule. I prefer to sit quietly on the wooden bench watching other passengers getting onto vehicles and departing for their houses or hotels. I always ask my Tuk-Tuk to come to pick me up about half an hour after the train has arrived. This is to give the driver more leisurely time on the morning and to let him sleep a bit longer.

I like to watch the sunrise at the railway station. The whole place is very quiet as all the passengers are gone. Birds would be fighting and chirping on nearby trees. The station becomes so still and pleasant that I enjoy sitting and waiting for my vehicle’s arrival. Staff at the station are quite used to seeing me there taking photos of the station and its surrounding.

Several Tuk-Tuk drivers asked me why I sat there waiting for about half an hour for my driver. They wondered why I didn’t just phone him up so he could pick me up as soon as the train arrived at the station. I told them that I like to see the sunrise and I preferred to sit quietly at an empty station. They probably thought I was from another planet as I could assist them with translation and negotiation with foreign tourists whenever they required my help.

รถไฟเข้าจอดที่สถานีหนองคายเช้ามาก ตั้งแต่มีการสร้างรางรถไฟใหม่จากขอนแก่น ทำให้รถไฟเข้าถึงสถานีเร็วขึ้นสองชั่วโมง นั่นหมายความว่ารถไฟถึงหนองคายก่อนพระอาทิตย์ขึ้นในบางฤดูกาล สภาพบรรยากาศที่มืดมิดดูมีความลึกลับบางอย่าง เราจึงชอบนั่งดูบรรยากาศตอน พระอาทิตย์ขึ้นเหนือยอดต้นไม้มาก ตอนนั้นคนอื่นๆก็พากันขึ้นรถไปตามบ้านและโรงแรมที่จองไว้กันแล้ว สถานีรถไฟก็เงียบสงบไม่มีคนเลย เราก็ได้ฟังเสียงบรรดานกทั้งหลาย ส่งเสียงดังสนั่นตามต้นไม้ และดูแสงสีทองอมส้มของพระอาทิตย์ไปพร้อมกัน เหมือนรุ่งอรุณออกมาต้อนรับเราเข้าสู่วันใหม่ อากาศตอนเช้าสดชื่นเบาสบาย เราจึงไม่เบื่อที่จะนั่งคอยคนขับรถตุ๊กตุ๊กของเราเลย

The refreshing air and gentle sunrise in Nongkhai make me become unwind; my brain starts to slow down from its usual turbo speed. I suddenly become relaxed and stop looking at my watch. The speed of life turns on a slow mode and I prefer the driver to go slowly so I could take photos along the way. In Bangkok I drive like F1 car racer and often made taxi drivers angry with me for being so daring. I love the simple scenery in Nongkhai, with low rise buildings and old houses by the river.

เราชอบมห้รถวิ่งช้า เพื่อเราจะได้ถ่ายรูปวิวข้างทางได้ บรรยากาศตอนเช้าดีมาก เราได้สัมผัสชีวิตที่ช้าลงและเรียบง่าย ทำให้สมองเริ่มหยุดกระโจนไปข้างหน้า ไม่ต้องห่วงเรื่องการทำเวลาและเร่งรีบ เราก็นั่งดูวิวริมแม่น้ำ บ้านเรือนเตี้ยๆ ท้องฟ้าและทิวเขาทางฝั่งลาว เราจะได้เห็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางวัตถุที่กำลังคืบคลานเข้ามาในชุมชน แต่โชคดีที่เมืองนี้เป็นทางผ่าน คนที่มาที่นี่ก็คือคนที่หวังมาอยู่จนแก่เพราะ สภาพแวดล้อมที่ดีกว่าที่อื่น เราก็หวังว่าความเรียบง่ายและความสงบจะดำรงอยู่ไปอีกยาวนานหลายร้อยปี
