As much as I do like to cook, my boyfriend is the true chef of our kitchen. After a big holiday dinner, he decided to take the remains of the turkey and make some stock. The delicious soup seen above is the end result.

Speaking of stock, here we see my kitchen wizard brewing the stock from turkey remains with a bunch of veggies thrown in for flavor.

This fine elixir of tasty goodness is what is left once all the turkey and stock veggies are removed.

Now the true soup building begins! My dear sweet man chopped up a bunch of carrots, onions, celery, and mushrooms seen in the large bowl above. Those as well as the barley (not shown here) were then added to the stock to start cooking and simmering into deliciousness.

He also roasted up a turkey breast that he shred up and added towards the end of the simmering of the soup. The bourbon in the background is for seasoning the chef lol. ;p

The result of about an hour or two of simmering away was this lovely and so very tasty soup that I love so very much! I am a lucky woman!!
I hope I made you hungry with my first ever #fff post!
As always remember that it is all about the little things in life, and thanks for looking in! :)

You had me at "barley", one of my favorite ingredients in soups!

And I had to chuckle at "..the Bourbon is for seasoning the chef!"😀

Anyone who makes homemade stock from poultry earns my respect -- that is tedious work and takes hours but the outcome adds magic to the resulting soup!👍🍵💫

It smelled amazing all day while he was cooking everything. He loves to cook and does not mind all the grunt work needed to make a soup like this. (Again lucky me!!) The barley does make an awesome addition to the soup. I like it much better than pasta or even rice. Thank you very much for stopping by, and I will pass your compliments on to the chef! :)

A good barley soup is real comfort food, reminds me of my granny who often made this in wintertime! Nice first entry @paradigm42!
