How Can I Get Fit By Only Running?

You could very well follow a more traditional running routine. I like to start people off working in running intervals and progress from there.

Example
30sec run/1min walks (30- 45mins)
1min run/1min walks (30- 45mins)
1.5 min run/1min walks (30- 45mins)
1.5 min run/30 sec walks (30- 45mins)
1.5 min run/30 sec walks (40mins- 1hr)
