My Favorite Home Cooked Dish: "Hamonada"

IMG_20171225_003021.jpg

Hello everybody! Hamonada is one of our favorite dishes, especially during the Holiday Season or on other special occasions. My kids along with my grandkids and friends just love this yummy recipe.

Here's how I prepared my favorite home cook dish:

Ingredients:

1-2 kilos Pork Shoulder or leg (ham)
5 or more pcs of potato, peeled and fried separately
5 medium sized unripe banana, fried separately
200 ml. Tomato sauce or tomato paste
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 liter sprite softdrinks
1/2 liter anisado (optional)
1 tbsp. laurel leaves with seeds
1 medium can liver spread
1 can pineapple, sliced (as needed)
5 medium sized bell peppers
1 whole bulb of white onion
5 pcs. spring onion, cut into half
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste

  • You may cut in half the two kilos meat and place it in your wok or casserole then pour water until above the meat level. Let it boil for 30 mins then remove the bubbles. Next, pour 1liter of sprite and/or anisado, tomatoe sauce or tomato paste, liver spread along with garlic, bell peppers, spring onion, white onion and laurel. You may include the juice of your sliced pineapple. Therefore, limit the amount of brown sugar since the juice and sprite are already sweet.

  • Let all ingredients and meat boil until tender. See to it that the meat won't get burnt from the base. At this time, the liquid parts may have gone down to half the amount. You will observe that the liquid will begin to be sticky with aromatic smell. Add salt and pepper to taste

  • Lastly, add the fried potatoes, fried banana and slice pineapple. You may arrange it around the cooked Hamonada.

  • See, there's not much hassle. All you need to do is boil, add all ingredients and wait till it's tenderized. Actually, this is the first menu I prepare because I can just leave it there boiling, while we prepare for the next recipe. I will be preparing this dish again for the coming Holiday Season! Try it guys, you won't regret it.

Thank you @olivia08 and @jurich60 for the reminder and to @marblely for initiating this contest.

Indeed @marblely! It's our homemade "ham", much cheaper to the smoked ham in the market. BTW, you can also bake that ( without the sauce of course) to make it a bit brownish. Thanks dear!

What a wonderful feast! Your photo shows it beautifully :) The dish has a colour of curry but it is not curry right? It is tomato based?

Thank you for your entry @sarimanok. I found your post through the Steemworld mentions as Partiko notifications were not working. Do include the link to your post at the contest post in future so that I do not miss your entry.

Hi, Oh sorry about that @marblely! Actually, I am glad I made this post. I got notifications in flying colors! Am greatly overwhelmed for the upvotes. Many thanks. BTW, you can add a bit of curry powder too. It will add in to the flavor.
