Patience Pays

"Mum look at me! I'm getting old, My breasts are falling, my beauty is fading, those much younger than I am are getting married year by year. In barely four months from now I'll be 30! And no one has come to seek for my hand in marriage. And you sit here telling me to be patient with God? Hmmm, patience! For crying out loud, I'm a graduate, I mean a PhD holder, I studied one of the lucrative courses that will make any man fall headlong for me, I work where I'm paid well, and I still serve God with my whole heart. What else will I do for God to settle me with a man"?

That was how I heard her lamenting 9months ago. I was on my way to the market that day. I decided to trek since the market was not far from where I lived. It was in one of the nicely built houses along the road that I heard this lady spilling out her bitter condition.

Inquisitive me! I was bent on hearing her out and probably find a way of calming her.
I knocked on the door........ "How can I help you young lady?" Her mum inquired when she opened the door. "Good day ma" I greeted for courtesy's sake. " Please can I see your daughter?" I asked politely. "Okay come in" she said scanning me with her eyes from head to toe, maybe judged from my appearance that I had no evil intention.
"Good afternoon." I greeted as I walked into the beautifully arranged sitting room. "You're welcome", said the lady who was lamenting previously.

She was indeed a true definition of God's creation. Her well built body structure that fitted her beautiful face, coupled with her shiny ebony skin left me staring for a while before I could say what really brought me there. I was just 24 years old and I looked much younger than her. " please Lord, let her not look at my physique, but use me to be of help to her" I prayed silently.
"Ehm, pls can I have a little chat with you?" She said yes and we talked for about 30minutes. I told her the importance of patience in the life of a believer and I gave her examples of those who waited and how they were rewarded at last.

She was convinced , she looked brighter and happier. I was happy and fulfilled too. We exchanged contacts and she told me her name was Pricilla. Sister P is what I call her.
We kept communicating and I continued to encourage her. We prayed together too.
5months ago she called to inform me of the marriage proposal from bro Johnson who just came back from Canada where he finished his masters program. She prayed and God confirmed it. They wedded and are living happily.

Lesson to learn: be patient in all you do, allow God use His own timetable for your life. Be patient!
