Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is the definitive version of the latest installment of the famous fighting saga, which despite having three-dimensional graphics continues to develop laterally to preserve all its essence. Developed by NetherRealm Studios for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Stadia, the Ultimate Edition includes the Game Base, Kombat Pack 1, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath expansion, and most importantly New, the Kombat Pack 2, which adds Mileena, Rain and Rambo to the cast of fighters. But this is not all, as it includes the most recent updates (with the Friendships and Fatalities phase) along with more costumes, scenarios and other extras that we will talk about later.

Owners of the game on PS4 or Xbox One can also get the respective versions of its successors at no additional cost, which feature dynamic 4K resolution, faster loading times and other improvements. Also comment that there is crossplay between these four platforms for some game modes.

The story of the base game centers on Raiden, who has assumed a dark power to try to defend Earth from different threats, upsetting the balance between light and dark and some timelines. Here Kronika comes into play, a being who controls time and seeks to repair this mess, joining all the timelines into one to reunite the past with the present and make the current Raiden cease to exist. For his part, Aftermath picks up where this plot ends, with Liu Kang assuming the role of the new protector and Guardian of Time by defeating Kronika. After some events that we will not detail, he is forced to travel through time again to try to keep the Hourglass in good condition that allows him to maintain his balance, making unexpected alliances along the way.

Not only is it an interesting plot, but it is very well narrated through high-quality cinematics that are mixed with the gameplay, it has very charismatic characters, there are several surprises throughout its development and sometimes it allows us to choose between two fighters to play with, with a premise that also serves to bring into battle both fighters of yesteryear as well as current ones and their respective versions.

In terms of mechanics, it has not changed from what has been seen before, attacking with each limb standing, crouching or jumping, blocking the rivals and moving laterally, in addition to combining these actions to perform special movements and devastating combos. There are also the Fatal Blows to try to turn the combat around, the classic fatalities, the brutalities, the final provocations and, as news of the latest updates, the friendship and stage fatalities. There are some extras in the form of new moves and some adjustments to the AI or the response of the fighters, but nothing too remarkable (although it did not need it).

The cast of fighters is very wide and perfectly balanced, finding in this version a total of 37. To those of the base game are added those of the Kombat Pack 1 (Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, the Joker, the Terminator T-800 and Spawn) that we could already enjoy in Aftermath with Fujin, Sheeva and Robocop, and, as a major novelty of this installment, those of the Kombat Pack 2 (Mileena, Rain and Rambo). All of them come standard in the Ultimate version, although you can always get them from the base game. The best thing is that each of the fighters has lots of customization elements that even alter their statistics or movements, some new included in this version and that, as a great novelty, can be used online.

We can say little about the graphic section that you don't already know, finding characters whose models are full of details, great animations, good expressions and, above all, the gore to which the saga has us accustomed, being more colorful than ever. The locations are varied and have interactive elements that add spectacularity to the battles. The effects are very careful, playing very well with the lighting, as well as working very smoothly.

The sound is also very good, with a large number of themes at our disposal that suit the battles, the history and the menus very well, with worked sound effects and high quality English dubbing, always accompanied by texts in Castilian very well interpreted.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate may not be a big leap for those who have the base game and its previous character passes, but by including all the series content it makes it very appetizing for those who are going to play it for the first time. , finding tons of fighters, skins, movements, scenarios and game modes that will give you endless hours of play. If we add to this the advantages of the title on the new consoles, you have a very complete product that you should not miss.
