This is a play-by-post game, inspired by @happyme’s Zombie games.

We will use the game board below to play the game. The goal is to make it to the Forest Portal square at the end of the path. Please note: This is a new game and the first time I’m running it so this is a test run. I’ll be learning if the mechanics work through this game and may change them to work better in future games.

This game has space for up to 8 players and requires daily participation from the players. Players can jump in any time, but the game ends when a player reaches the Forest Portal. Players will post a comment on the daily game post to take their turns.

Welcome to Honeywood Forest! After a delicious spring picnic in the Honeywood Forest, the picnickers must make their way out of the woods. Unfortunately, all the delicious food has caught the attention of some bears who are just waking up from hibernation and are ravenous! Escape before you become their next meal!

Rules

  1. Players must upvote the game post.
  2. Players start the game in the Home Den square.
  3. To start their turn, players will roll the dice.
  4. Players must advance along the game board the same number of spaces as their dice roll.
  5. If given two directions, players may choose either direction to advance.
  6. Players cannot change directions unless they are at a crossroads or land on a cardinal cross. A crossroads is any point where the path diverges into two directions.
  7. A cardinal cross (cardinalcross.png) is the only square in which a player can move backwards along a path they have just come from.
  8. Players do not have to stop their turn at the cardinal cross or at a crossroads to change directions.
  9. As players pass through bear dens (bearden.png) if the corresponding bear is not already on the board, they must roll a dice to see if they wake up the sleeping bear. Rolling a 1-3 means no. Rolling a 4-6 means a bear has woken up in that den and will move at the end of the round. Each bear can only spawn from one of the bear dens. See Bears Table below to see where the bears will spawn from.
  10. As a player passes a square with the image of a token on it, that token gets added to that player’s “bag”. Players do not have to land on the token image to collect it. See Token Table below to see how many tokens each square grants the player.
  11. At the end of their turn, players must draw a card from the deck. For now, I have a deck of handmade cards that I will draw from. I will automate this in the future.
  12. If the card has instructions, the player must follow those instructions.
  13. If the card has a snack, players may add it to their bag.
  14. I will upvote each player’s first comment.
  15. After all players have had their turns, the bears who have woken up in their dens roll for their move. I will roll for the bears.
  16. A bear will automatically always take the shortest route possible to get to the nearest player to them.
  17. If a bear catches up with a player, they must have that bear’s favourite snack food to feed them. See the Bear Table below to see which bear likes which snack. If the player does not have the right snack, the bear will eat the player and the player will be sent back to the Home Den to start over. The player will lose all snacks and tokens they have collected. The snacks will disappear but the tokens will go into a treasure pile at the Forest Portal for the winner to pick up. If the player does have the snack, the bear will return to a den and be taken off the game board.
  18. There are a maximum of eight bears that can be awoken, each with a different name and favourite snack.
  19. After the awake bears have taken their turn, I will roll for each of the remaining bears to see if they wake up in their den and appear on the board. For this roll, 1-3 means the bear has woken up. 4-6 means they continue to sleep. These bears will not move from their dens until the following turn.
  20. Players must take their turns before I post the next day’s game post, approximately 24 hours later.
  21. The game continues until one player reaches the Forest Portal and escapes the woods.
  22. Players do not need an exact roll to win.
  23. At the end of the game, ALL active players win the tokens they currently have in their bags plus 1 Hive SBI share.
  24. As I will be playing the game as well, any tokens I win from the game will be given to a random active player.

Question: What dice do we roll? Is it the same as the zombie game?

I'm going to try to make a lil online one in github like happyme's over the weekend I think. I'm not sure how much use questbot can handle. I might have to learn to make my own questbot 😂

I would be honoured to participate. I'm so glad I checked out your page when I did.

If you download my first version of my tool, you can simply delete the parts not needed and then make that your own.
