It gives a new batch of players the base game for free which can reel them into buy the various DLCs or its "Royal Edition", that are coming out in the future, as well as players will be likely to tell their friends who will miss out on the free copy.
I am pretty sure this is a re-release of the game and the "Royal Edition" is whats new. Not sure. Don't care. Still looks like a cool game.

I enjoy the graphics in the game. Nice and smooth but not overly realistic that the people look creepy. From what I have seen it reminds me of a Might and Magic a little bit.
