As usual for a while now, Need for Speed: Heat once again gives an important weight to its history, with a kinematics created with the game engine (without a trace of flesh and blood actors, as in that 2015 delivery, just one year after the movie of the same name) where we will meet both the runners' side that will be our new family and the Palm City policemen led by Frank Mercer.

What can we do in Need for Speed: Heat

Palm City is large and varied enough that it is not boring to drive through its streets and meadows, being able to move freely throughout the area. Now, at the level of collectibles and activities, most will be blocked from the start and depend on reputation.

Need for Speed: Heat will gradually open up, in short, so that we learn the ins and outs of driving, both the part of skidding (accelerate and take the curve, release and accelerate, almost like in Ridge Racer) as everything what is necessary to leave with guarantees of the police presence. The fact is that we will always have something to do and that's fine.

Improvements of different rarity (no loot boxes)

Each event has a recommended performance level to indicate the optimal category to compete. The first cars that we can buy have very little level, so it will be necessary to improve their performance.

On this occasion there is no trace of the loot boxes, but those improvements depend exclusively on the level of our reputation. The more reputation we have (based on competing at night), the more weird improvements we can buy with money earned in competitions.

¿Choose day or night in Need for Speed: Heat?

Need for Speed: Heat and now it should be noted that the same level of nighttime competition and tension is missing for the day. It is worth that at night the city has another charm thanks to that lighting (there will be indicative neon lights on the route, so that we do not deviate), but the essence of the first Need for Speed is lost a bit.

That loss of original identity has to do with the direction that the saga took in the wake of the Need for Speed: Underground of 2003, with greater emphasis on tuning, more night races within the city and a story so that not everything was to run without Another incentive. And here we have also seen a substantial change in its soundtrack, being quite unfortunate in this installment when opting for current fashion, with Machacon bases and without cane.

In short, it is certainly not the ideal celebration for the 25 years of a very beloved saga among lovers of the most thug speed, but at least Need for Speed: Heat meets just enough to not go wrong standing in this event so special. We hope, yes, that in the face of the next generation of consoles, EA offers something more revolutionary.
