Fresh Basil for the Garden

Grown from Seed Sticks

Fresh basil

As you can see, I've got some new basil seedlings growing for the garden. I haven't had much luck with growing Basil cause in the past, I've only bought plants from Woolworths but I always find that once they leave the air-conditioned shop, they seem to wilt and often die days later.

These ones, however, have been grown from some seeds that I received in a 'show-bag' last mothers days. I'd never seen or used seed sticks before and they looked just like a matchbook but with seeds stuck on the end instead of a striking surface.

Seed Sticks

If you notice on the 'stick', they even have a line marked that makes it fool-proof (although that doesn't guarantee that I'm not a fool lol). All you have to do is push the stick down into the potting mix until you reach the line, and Bob's your uncle.

Even though they suggested it would take 15 - 25 days to germinate, these babies emerged in only a few days, so hopefully that means they were strong, healthy seeds for strong, healthy plants.

Printed depth line

The way they're growing, we'll be eating our own homemade pesto in no time.

And, they're definitely not Faulty lol

Until next time... xxx

Thanks for stopping by and reading my post, I really do appreciate your time.

And remember to keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you're thinking...!

Good luck!
If you buy plants from a place like woolworths, the trick is to harden them off to outside conditions slowly over a week or two. They are guaranteed to die if you put them straight out in the sun

Sorry, I missed your reply before this and yes, I've heard that you need to do this but I think I'm just really impatient; I probably only last about 2 days before I think oh, she'll be right... famous last word lol
