🌺 Hive Community Garden Journal Challenge - March!
What's going on in your (indoor) garden, on your balcony, in your homestead or on your farm this month? Let us take a peek and maybe you'll win one of the prizes.

A New Start?
Yep! It's that time of the month again. 😁
Your favorite garden journal challenge is back.
I've decided to move to our brand new home, Hive - as you can see. For those of you who haven't made the transition yet, I'll be running this month's edition on both Steem and Hive. One prize pool, but entries can be submitted on both chains. Starting next month, I'll go all-in on Hive. I hope you'll be joining!
Spring Is Here
On my side of the world, spring has started. My favorite season kicked off with some nice and sunny weather. It's a bhit of a shame it won't last very long, though; it's gonne be a lot cooler and rainy again next week.
This time of year is always a bit tricky. My kiwiberry, which overwintered inside the greenhouse, looked all green and beautiful, so I decided to ask my girlfriend to move it outside. The next day, all the green shoots had died again... you guessed it: night frost. Sigh... I should really know by now and be patient, lol. I'm crossing my fingers, hoping that the plant will recover once the temperature goes up again.
The Corona virus has messed up my plans a bit. This year, I didn't sow any veggies inside. My plan was to go out and buy seedlings, since I'm still not fully recovered. But a trip to the garden center is not possible at the moment. I just hope that - if this situation doesn't change - I'll be able to order some veggies to grow online.
If not, I'll have to work with what comes up spontaneously. But even in that case, I think there will be quite a bit of action in the garden this year.
In the greenhouse, lots of seeds that were buried in the soil are sprouting again. Mainly flowers for now. It's fun to try to identify the seedlings.
I'll try to get up a post up later this week to show you what is happening in my own garden.
Meanwhile....
Welcome to the Hive Community Garden Journal Challenge, which encourages you to share your monthly (indoor) garden/balcony updates with your the community and create your own garden journal.
A Shoutout To Our Previous Contributors.
As you know, due to circumstances I missed the February edition. I feel a bit bad about it, since I hadn't missed an edition in 2 years. But hey, it is what it is. There's a positive side to it too, though: I bet you all have a truckload of pics this time!
We've had different gardeners joining this challenge in every edition. The participants' base follows the seasons in the different parts of the world. People in the Northern Hemisphere, like me, are looking forward to starting up their garden, while in the Southern Hemisphere, summer has ended. Either way, lots of stories to tell!
A quick shout out to some of our previous participants. With all this confusion about moving to Hive, I'm going to tag some people to invite them to join and post a new update.
@abitcoinskeptic, @nikv, @porters, @riverflows, @gertu, @gingbabida, @cloudblade, @sayee, @plantstoplanks, @enjar, @fotostef, @travoved, @proto26, @amberyooper, @bengy, @kindredacres, @pastoragus, @ericburgoyne, @exator.
@fionasfavourites, maybe? (A girl can try, right? 😂)
If you're not tagged, no worries: this challenge is open for everyone who is growing plants or crops - indoors or outdoors.
If you haven’t joined before, feel free to start now. The more the merrier! There are plenty of people who are enjoying to see what's going on in other people's garden, farm or balcony.
The Challenge
Same rules as always:
Please note the changed tag!!

Please also include a link back to this challenge somewhere in your post.
You can include whatever you want in your post, but please remember that the pictures should be the most important aspect of your post.
Show us how your plants, herbs, flowers, succulents or vegetables are doing. Share what you’ve been doing in your garden, on your farm or on your balcony. Don't forget to let us know if you are dealing with things like fungus, caterpillars, aphids, and - even more important - hów you’re dealing with those.
In short, tell us the story of your garden.
🏆 The Rewards
As always, all entry posts will receive an upvote from my personal account.
No Steem-Bounty this time. I checked the service to see if it would move over to Hive, but it doesn't look that way. I even got the idea it wasn't a 'thing' anymore....
I need to do some research on the tokens, but I assume most haven't made the switch yet. I'll try to come up with a way to give all entries an extra reward by next month. This month, a small comment upvote will have to do.
🏆 The Winners
When this post reaches payout, I will select the two entries that I liked most.
I’ll reward the top 2 posts with a 10 Hive/Steem prize.
(If the winner has posted an entry through Steel, he/she will get the prize in Steem. If the entry was posted on Hive, Hive will be awarded.)
I will also choose 2 random participants who will each receive 2 Hive/Steem.
Prizes will be given out once I get the winners post up, which will be after this post has reached payout. Make sure you submit your entry before that time.
Grab That Camera
Are you still reading? What are you waiting for? Grab that camera and go make some awesome pics of your (indoor) garden, your balcony or wherever you are growing your plants, herbs, flowers or crops.
Show off your green thumb, or the lack of it, and create another chapter in your very own garden journal for 2020.

I'll can't wait to see your updates!

I'm back, but you already know that...

It's justvdirt for now, but I'll do a bit more Sunday and maybe add something. Definitely next weekend.
Sadly, I may be overseas for 3 months. Work duty calls. ㅜㅜ
I was feeling lazy again today, but I pushed myself to get the post out, to make sure you could still enter. 😉
Ouch... being overseas for 3 months just when you've found a plot.... inconvenient.
Thanks for joining again, @abitcoinskeptic
Thank you for efforts. I do hope I get back in time for fall, but who knows with this virus issue when I will even start. I have others to take care of the place for me and I'm hoping they don't destroy it. But I was really hoping to spend time there myself. Time will tell what happens, I'm not going anywhere until I'm going somewhere.
This is exciting to see here and I am happy to be a participant. Here is my first post on what is happening in my urban garden. Thank you.

Could you maybe add a link to this challenge to your post?
Absolutely!
I'm in, thanks for running this again
Cool, @briarch. Can't wait to see your entry
Never before has the #GardenJournal been so important!! Looking forward to posting in the coming days, and supporting others who do. Resteemed.

Thanks for the support, @artemislives.
And you're absolutely right: these days growing your own food has become more important than ever 💜
Huge thanks to @artemislives for rebloging this post so it showed up on my feed. :D
I post about my garden quite often during the spring/summer but I never came across your challenge @simplymike. I will definitely join, so excited! :)
I'm looking forward to your entry, @nikolina

I just had to give myself my own little deadline to make it happen. Happy to get to jump in to kick off the spring! Thanks as always for hosting, and I hope you are able to get a little something going yourself despite the lockdown soon!

Garden Journal 2020 | March An Early Start
Thanks for joining again, @enjar
I do love gardening. This gives me the needed excess to go out and do it :)
Same here... if it weren't for the garden, I'd only go out to feed some scraps to the chicken, and that's it 😂

Oh, it is so lovely to take part again onto this challenge.
Here is the update of my small garden.

I need to make a post for this challenge!
Hi there! I missed last month but got a chance to write this weekend so here goes https://peakd.com/gardenjournal/@nikv/garden-journal-preparing-for-winter
I missed last month too, lol. So you did not miss anything. 😁
Thanks for joining again, @nikv
Wow, wow, wow! I'm happy to see this! 😍
Thank you for this opportunity to showcase my garden. Hahaha! 😂
Here's my entry @simplymike.

It's my pleasure @simplymike! 🌻🌻🌻
Hey hey, it's been a while between journals!
https://peakd.com/hive-114105/@bengy/march-garden-journal
Thanks for joining again, @bengy!!
Hurrah for the bulbs!! 😂
I know... they finally made it into the ground and they are looking pretty decent! Glad to be gardening again after the winter lull!
Same here.... although not a lot is going on yet. I sowed a bit of lettuce last week and the little seedlings are popping up, but that's about it. Just ordered some seedlings online... after seeing all those gardens today, I was craving for some plants 😂
I am hoping...it's a crazy time. Going to add this to my list. And come back and have a proper read
After a few months of absence I have returned with my disaster hahaha

Good to see you join again, @fmbs25
Nice to see you on hive @simplymike :)
Happy new month!
Shite! I better throw a post together - might just get in in the nick of time!
https://peakd.com/gardening/@creativetruth/spring-garden-journal-march-2020
Thanks for joining, @creativetruth. But can you maybe add the tag (#gardenjournal) and a link to this post to your post?
Think I fixed it @simplymike. Thanks for being so nice about making sure people follow the rules. I think I've missed out on this challenge a lot because I usually fail to follow one step or another.
https://peakd.com/gardening/@creativetruth/spring-garden-journal-march-2020
Updated the intro to include a link back, and added the tag to one of my five main tags.
Got one more post coming out today highlighting March. Am I allowed to submit more than one? Okay with me if only one qualifies.
I tend to keep it 1 post/person.
Thanks for updating... the tag isn't visible yet, but I assume there is a bit of a delay.
I'm not extremely strict when it comes to the rules(As you've probably noticed I had already given you an upvote on both your post and comment), but the few that are in place (tag, link back) are just a way to make life a bit easier for myself (I used to have tag notifications set up in Gina to be notified instantly when a new post came out - can't wait for tomorrow, when Gina will be moved to Hive) and to get the word out about the contest.
Glad to see the Garden Journal Challenge on Hive!
Here's my March entry https://www.naturalmedicine.io/hive-120078/@porters/march-garden-journal-indoor-garden-going-strong
https://peakd.com/gardening/@creativetruth/spring-garden-journal-march-2020-part-2-dirty-work-gardening
Here is a second March Garden Journal I made. It's okay if it does not qualify, but I wanted to share. Sometimes I take so many photos and do so much work, it is just too much content to cram all into one post.
Thanks for joining, @creativetruth
I know I said only one entry would qualify, but I fell in love with this one 😂
