Hello Hiveans!

Friend!

Have you heard about one of the activities to be a Keuramba fisherman?

If you are a coastal community of course the sentence is familiar to your ears. Because of these activities, you have seen every fisherman who is involved in managing fish often or raising shrimps in a sea on the edge of an estuary.

Between 1973 and 2000 shrimp farmers managed their shrimp in ponds located on land adjacent to the coast of the saltwater estuary.

But since Aceh was hit by the Tsunami, people who lived on the coast got an idea for raising wild fish or groupers in the ocean, precisely on the coast.

This new idea came out on its own due to the obsession of one of the fishermen who at that time all of his ships and all forms of fishing equipment were carried away by the tsunami waves.

So that the rest of the catch is used as a container to be placed in the seashore, so far it has been done by every local fisherman on the coast.

Understanding keuramba

In general, what is meant by Keuramba is one of the tools to accommodate a group of fish whose material is in the form of a net that has been arranged or created in such a way as to form a large container located in the water.

Materials such as nets are equipped with several pieces of wood in the form of plots and tucked in a plastic drum as a tool to float nets and wood to form like a container that resembles a fish pond in the ocean.

Keuramba was adopted from the Acehnese language which means sea water pool. Inside it is maintained by several grouper and shrimp seedlings with a simple manager, small fish that are in do in keuramba will always be fed according to the situation of the fish itself so within 3 months the small fish have grown into large groupers it is ready to be harvested or ready to be marketed to all customers both in the region and outside the region.

Maintenance mechanism

In managing grouper or shrimp, it is almost the same as aquaculture in mainland ponds, but only with different techniques, whereas maintenance techniques for grouper seedlings are not as complex and difficult as pond farmers in general.

The maintenance step is also very simple because everything you need is in the Keuramba area itself. In general, to start grouper farmers look for seeds that are on the edge of a rock or rather on the beach, using a simple tool such as a fish trap or in Aceh called Sawoek, grouper seeds are very easy to catch.

In one operation grouper seedlings can be caught as many as hundreds, so to cultivate the fishermen only look for the seeds for 3 days.

The grouper seedlings that have been captured are also selected again according to the grouper species itself, usually the grouper that will be maintained is the tiger grouper species whose shape is exactly what you see in the picture.

After being sterilized in all circumstances, grouper or shrimp are ready to do.

The grouper seeds are monitored twice a day, in the morning and in the afternoon. The bait he gave was not difficult because it was also available in the Keuramba environment itself, by catching small fish such as mullets playing in the cage area itself. Every day the fish are fed twice a day such as morning and evening for three months.

Grouper fish will continue to be large for a period of 3 months, if hundreds of tails are provided later in the harvest with the same number. Because the grouper fish is always healthy because it is located directly in the natural ocean, only they are restricted by the keuramba container.

Each Keuramba fisherman has 10 Keuramba plots, so the fish seedlings are stored with 300 plots, so if they have ten plots, they will harvest 3,000 large grouper groupers with a size of 4 ounces. In general, they will manage as much as 1200 kilograms of grouper fish. The fish are banished with a price of 35 thousand rupiah per kilo, so if the multiply 35X1200 then the traditional fishermen have an income of 420 million rupiah for 3 months.

Then they share the results as many as 10 groups so after the deduction of work costs each member has a wage of 10 million rupiahs every 3 months.

Then what about shrimp farming in keuramba? Then this will be explained in an upcoming explanation

So few reviews about Keuramba fishermen who have been popular for the past few years. Thank you very much.
