Mother's Day ♡

“A mother’s love is more beautiful than any fresh flower.”

"She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future."

Proverbs 31:25

This is my kindhearted, hardworking, courageous, generous, loving and beautiful mom without whom I would be lost in this great big messy world.

God willing, my mom will be celebrating her 79th birthday at the end of July. In a few years, I'll look older than her!

Nothing makes her happier than anything to do with her two grandchildren!

(Well, maybe a great-grandchild?)

In my area, this is how many restaurants are staying open during the Coronavirus outbreak. You order and pay for your meal ahead of time, give them a description of the vehicle that you'll be driving to pick up the food, then park in the lot and wait for the server -- wearing gloves and a mask -- to bring your order to you. Sugarfire Smokehouse was what we feasted on Mother's Day. Notice even the cars on the parking lot were practicing social distancing!

Below is my mom with our Cocker Spaniels. Lady (on the left) was her furbaby and Sasha (on the right) was mine and also known as my mom's granddog. Sadly, both of our girls are no longer living.

My mom (and dad, when he was alive) always watched Sasha when my family traveled. Sasha never was boarded even for one night of her 17+ years of life. The photo was taken back in 2011.

Here is a timesake photograph in natural sepia of my parents taken back in the early 1960s. My father took this photo himself using a rubber corded attachment that he squeezed to make the camera's shutter function.

I hope everyone continues to stay safe and keep healthy while practicing social distancing during the Coronavirus pandemic. Good news is these safety measures are helping to flatten the curve!

Please stay strong in spirit and have faith that in time things are going to return to a new state of normalcy!

I love that sepia of your parents! Even more so knowing that it was an early selfie! That's just fantastic.

You and your mom look so happy together in that picture, too. What a great post!

Wow! I never before thought about my father taking some of the first selfies. Thanks for pointing that out! My mom will laugh when I tell her. She has many more selfies he took of himself from before they met, pre-dating this one by more than a decade.

After Googling images, I found the proper name of the rubber cord attachment thing my father used is an "air cable release" that looked like this: http://oldcamerastuff.com/product/royal-air-cable-shutter-release-20-119.

I appreciate the compliment, and thank you very much for selecting my entry as the winner for the Mother's Day theme! @photo52

Such a beautiful post Nina, I share your sentiments about a mothers love. I'm so glad my parents got to spend quality time with their grand children and great grand children before they passed on.
