A Day Out on the August,17th

Hello everyone, today I am sharing about my day on August the 17th. The date is special because it is a commemoration of our independence as a nation, Indonesia.

Unlike the last year celebration where there were lots of activities in every town, village or city, this year, there is no such thing. There is no game, quiz, flag ceremony, marching band, bike contest, nor marching competition.

I just went out to the town park to see what people were doing to celebrate the independence day with my son. My son insisted to go out so he could go on a picnic, hence he could eat from the "picnic basket" somewhere.

I saw some Volkswagen cars parked by the street as I got nearer to the town park. From inside the building, there were some music and people singing some song about Indonesian struggle of independence.

There were Indonesian flags and red white banners by along the street. This is very common during the independence day celebration.

Arriving in the park, we went to the bench area located in the park. That's where my son wanted to go. This area was the least maintained part of the park, I wonder why. It's very dirty there, but the atmosphere was nice. We chose the cleanest table there.

We sat on the chairs near the moat. It felt like I sat near a lake somewhere in a beautiful place while the reality is that it's just a moat. Well, it felt great to be there though.

There were numerous paintings on the wall near the benches which were quite rusty. Most of them were probably painted a couple of years ago. All paintings have a similar theme of patriotism and nationalism.

And this was where my son wanted to eat his picnic basket. He immensely enjoyed his time. So, how do you celebrate your independence day this year?
