It's Time for Coffee at The Grandma's Farm

Hello, Hiveans. I'd like to share my visit to a small restaurant somewhere in the countryside in my town. I have never been to this place, but since this place has been recommended, I'd give it a try. Most important thing is that I could bring my family somewhere nice for spending a Saturday morning.

It was just about 10 AM as we stepped in front of the gate of the restaurant. It's not the time for breakfast nor lunch, we decided just to have something to drink. As for me, coffee was always a nice choice.

The name of the restaurant is Tegal Dadong, which means "grandmother's farm." It's located in a farm area, on the outer side of the town. So, the name describes the location quite well.

We walked pass the gate, then we saw two statues of persons dressed in Balinese farmer cloth. One of the statues is a lady statue. This is probably "the grandmother.". They both seemed to sit down resting after day work on the farm.

Passing the statues, we saw a fish pond where visitors could try to fish. (I did not try fish, I was there for coffee.) And around the fish pond were many small pavilions where tables and chairs were placed. Most of the pavilions do not have chairs though, since the idea is to have visitors sit down cross-legged in front of the tables. Many Indonesian think that sitting cross-legged is more casual and relaxing than sitting on chairs.

After waiting for quite some time, about 20 minutes, the coffee came. The coffee came with no bowl of sugar like in a bigger restaurant. The restaurant decided by themselves that they put sugar in my black coffee. Well, I do like where I could my sugar or no sugar on my coffee by myself, but as I tasted the coffee, I did not mind. The coffee was strong and bitter. I could sense a burnt taste on it. So, a little bit of sugar will help.

My wife ordered a spicy hot fruit salad, which she thought it was not as spicy as hers when she made her own.

My kids ordered avocado juice (their favorite) but since it was early (the avocado had not been picked up) than they had to be happy with ice tea.

About an hour later, there were more and more people coming. They sat on different pavilions. They were talking and having conversation.

We liked it when there were not so many people since it was quiet and tranquil that finally, we left. But it was a good fun to spend some time there.

Thanks for reading and supporting me.
