Happy first day of April 1st!

My April post for the #happynewmonth challenge by @fotostef. As I went to edit this mornings pictures I realized the last time I took pictures was March 1st. It gets me out taking original pictures each month!

When thinking about what I could take pictures of and what represents what is happening in my life right now, I thought of the Mesa Cemetery. There are a couple of places that I have been walking during (my goal is 2 miles each day) the Coronavirus and this is my one of my favorites!

While that may seem strange to enjoy walking in a cemetery. I find it a quiet and peaceful place. I also enjoy walking around thinking about all the people there and those that love them. What are their stories?

Who are these women? Margaret (1923-1994), Lola (1912) and Peobe (1872-1962)?
They all lived in very different times.
They all had someone that loved them.

The Mesa Cemetery was established in 1891, making it 129 years old.

It is 50 acres and has about 45,000 people buried here. Usually while I am walking I see families and individuals visiting the graves of those they love.

Some people leave flowers and balloons and some people leave a whole Easter celebration.

Do you think that Mary really liked Easter or they decorate it for every holiday?

The other thing I really like about this cemetery in particular are the trees. There are eucalyptus, orange, palm, olive and others.

People from all over the world and all different times from 1891 to the present.

Some graves only have names and dates and some have pictures and busts.

While I have lived in Mesa for 10 years I did not grow up in Arizona and don't know many people that would be buried here. There are two graves that are extra special and they are very close to each other. Sweet Marth Crookston and Ross Farnsworth.

Thanks for sharing this walk around the Mesa Cemetery today.

I have seen to some very beautiful cemeteries while traveling, I have even considered making a photo series about them!
So glad to hear that my little challenge gives you motivation for some new pictures, it's exactly why I made it up, in the first place!

It really has helped me so much. Sometimes as much as we say we want to be photographers and get out there and take new and original pictures it doesn't always happen and this is a great way for me to be creative and keep up my craft.
