Woman in history-Hedwig Eleonora of Holstein-Gottorp
This time I present Hedwig Eleonora of Holstein-Gottorp(1636-1715). She was wife of king Charles X of Sweden and Queen consort of Sweden 24 October 1654-13 February 1660.
After the death of her husband she became the regent of her son Charles XI of Sweden(1655-1697) and she was the head of regency council until 18 December 1672 when her son became adult enough to run the country.
But Hedwig suffered a lost again in 5 April 1697, when her son died. And she became again the regent of her grandson Charles XII of Sweden(1682-1718). And she was the head of regency council until December of 1697, when the grandson was recognized at the appropriate age to rule the Sweden.
She also was the grandmother of Ulrika Eleonora of Sweden(1688-1741) which ruled Sweden after the death of her brother Charles XII of Sweden 5 December 1718-29 February 1720. Later she became queen consort of Sweden when her husband Frederick I became the king of Sweden. (Ulrika Eleonora's picture below).
But Hedwiga Eleonora hadn't seen it because she died in 24 November 1715.
