The long process of becoming a grasshopper

Hi everyone's!!!

As previously stated that grasshoppers themselves reproduce by laying eggs instead of giving birth, to distinguish between animals that lay eggs and give birth can be distinguished by looking at the two earlobes attached to the head of each animal, generally animals that carry out the process of giving birth have a cover (lobe ears) whereas animals that lay eggs do not have ear lobe, because laying animals only have ear holes and this does not happen to all animals.

Thus grasshoppers do not have earlobes or leaf ear it can be ascertained that they reproduce by laying eggs, so if you see animals that have ear lobe, for example, monkeys, they will reproduce by giving birth.

Grasshoppers themselves will reproduce in several stages such as:

  1. Parent lays eggs
  2. Eggs
  3. Nymphs
  4. and Imago

The journey that begins with sexual intercourse between an adult man and an adult woman to the last stage (becoming Imago) takes a maximum of ten month or eleven months of course it is divided into 4 stages, each of which takes a maximum of dozens week although sometimes there is a process that only takes half a month also depending on the air temperature or the specific season in each region.

For more details on the breeding process of grasshoppers, I will describe some of the common stages in the life of grasshoppers, both grasshoppers in remote locations or grasshoppers that are often in your area.

Come on! follow the explanation

🍳

A. Egg laying process

When an adult grasshopper or scientific language is said to be Imago, when the time comes or at a certain season the male will look for his partner to have sex with the aim of fertilizing the female, this process is called marriage (already explained in a previous post). This process does not take long, in general the male is very easy to find a partner and the mating process is very simple like any other intimate relationship.

When the male has finished fertilizing the female with the method as above, the female will wait 12 hours or sometimes a day to develop eggs in her own body.

The egg laying mechanism itself is also a common thing and it itself has the ability because they are classified into oviparous animals. Animals that are included in ovipar themselves do not only come from the type of insect group but also from poultry such as chickens, birds and others that you very often encounter around yourself.

The female who is pregnant with her eggs will look for a suitable location such as leaves that have fallen to the ground or on rocky locations that are dry and protected from water exposure. When the location is suitable, the grasshopper will lay eggs, the time it takes for the grasshopper to lay eggs is approximately 3-4 days and sometimes more. This process is short because there is an influence from the ability of the grasshopper itself, because it can produce eggs easily thanks to the ability of the female itself, this stage is called the egg laying stage.

B. Become an egg

After going through the laying stage for three or four days, the eggs will be located and hidden in any safe location, these eggs need a warm time from the sun, in general the eggs will hatch up to 10 months duration.

In this stage, it has been explained in a previous post

When the grasshopper eggs hatch, small grasshoppers will appear. However, not all eggs hatch because the abilities of each egg are not all the same. However, in this phase the small grasshoppers do not have wings, but physically the small grasshoppers are not much different from the adult grasshoppers. With grasshoppers having no wings, the little grasshoppers were still able to survive.

When these small grasshoppers are born, you will see small movements on each weed grass or on rocks that have nutritional intake which is located not far from the spawning area, so this stage is included in the nymph stage.

C. Nimfa

These little grasshoppers are called nymphs, they will continue to adapt to their environment without anyone teaching them how to eat and fly like birds with their parents. In simple terms it can be said that this nymph will age itself with the self-taught intelligence that is in its expertise.

As long as they become a nymph, they will continue to change their bodies, in general they will molt four times until they become adult grasshoppers or Imago.

D. Imago

When they reach their peak or finish mentioning nymphs by doing 4 times the skin molting process, they will enter the Imago or adult grasshopper stage. This is marked by the presence of several wings that are already perfect from before and increasing in size and weight

When entering the last stage or becoming an adult grasshopper, they will also experience some body skin change so that the small wings have become big and strong against exposure to the wind, this process also takes 14 days for 4 changes (etc).

It is a tiring process in breeding to continue their culture and habits in their life, if it is concluded that the process is almost 11 months long until the adult grasshoppers are formed as we see today.

Thus a brief explanation of the Grasshopper recycling process that made us amazed when observing it, hopefully it is useful for all of us and thank you very much.
