Tiger beetle in his daily life part 2

Hi everyone's!!!

Continued from post 1...

Various explanations have been written in each media regarding the figure of the Tiger Beetle which has a hunting speed. A team of researchers was involved in fact finding for each beetle that was labeled a pest on the farmer's crop. The team always observes any pest behavior and this is often studied in relation to the sustainability of the plant while living in one of the host plant areas. In the end they found information about it concluding that it was harmless to every plant.

Its existence in every plant, be it fruit trees, ornamental plants or other wild plants that grow independently on each side of the land, does not damage plant leaves or damage fruit growing in each area.

Its existence in every tree or on every ornamental plant is only perched on a perch in glancing at each type of beetle which will later hunt it down with its own technique in anticipating the targeted victims.

Then what about the nest in every tree trunk?

Indeed, it is often seen that this Tiger beetle makes a nest on every tree trunk, by making a hole in the bark of a tree with a certain size of at least 1 to 2 inches. However, the holes they make in the tree trunks are not in the form of a translucent inward shape but are partly in the form of holes spreading sideways not inward, even then not all of them do the same thing, because other Tiger Beetles make nests under logs that have separated from their mother trees under the trees or sometimes on the branches of fruit trees.

However, most of their nests are made in hard soil or on any dead and brittle roots of plants, in their own way with an almost identical design.

Tiger Beetle Nest Design

As explained in a previous post that, this tiger beetle lives in the open air meaning it can live anywhere, but what you often find on every soil, ornamental plant, fruit plant, with its very aggressive character (never stays silent in moving), his busyness and speed in moving are merely glancing and targeting and away from every movement of other objects if they are considered to be harmful to his body. However, he does not play too far with his nest because every game he gets will be immediately executed in his nest.

The shape of the nest has a hole structure with a hole size 3 times its body size with a tunnel like a cave, while in front of the nest door there are gum spots, or clay spots and even tree sap if the nest is made or designed in a wooden tree trunk as described above.

However, if the nest is on a pile of hard soil under a tree, the shape of the nest protrudes upwards like a roof house with a traditional house design, sometimes at first glance it looks like a land crab nest, but the design in it resembles the design on a tree that has nodes or holes in it with appropriate booths and rooms.

Insects that are always scared by other small insects

Among insects that are pests or in any other flying insect species it is one of the most feared animals and is always avoided because it is considered a very reliable predator in hunting.

Its speed in hunting is one of the burdens for slow flying insects, because every ambush will always be precise and precise in its ambush, meaning that when hunting, nearly 80% of them are able to roll their prey from every job at any chosen location

The accuracy and speed of its target at each target, this is what it means to be a tiger beetle and an insect that is very dangerous to other insects.

I myself also saw how it traps its prey and pounces on it and silences it in practice when the prey is weak and then brought into the nest.

It seems to me that it is one of those amazing insects, with a distinct motif and brilliant color deposited on each of its two wings. His activities are seen every day sitting seductively with antenna movements that never stop moving, sometimes he expands himself in the open air, sometimes he is also on the edge of a sandy beach and is also often seen on every tree branch facing the direction of the sun exposure. More he exclaims when he is still somewhere it looks like he is tempting us to approach him, but when you try to move to see him from a closer direction, then they go away from you. I myself conclude that, this tiger beetle is one of the fastest insects ever encountered besides flies. So it makes it very difficult for you to take pictures and even more difficult to capture them. This is only achieved when you use a special tool such as a butterfly net then you can catch it.

Even though it is very difficult to take photos, let alone capture them, I managed to shoot them with my smartphone camera with automatic shooting from half a meter, but I only got a few photos that were clearly visible while other photos looked blurry.

His speed in moving makes us even more curious about getting to know him even further, as described in the previous post, our curiosity about him is one of the challenges for me and for the observation team to find out about all their daily behavior.

Thus is this simple description of a beetle which is amazing when compared to other insects in a particular field. Hopefully this is useful for all of us, and thank you very much.
