Hunters and hunted

bee cabbage flower 5.jpg

A quick trip to the countryside to check on the spring rush.
Blooming trees, bushes, fields covered in colorful flowers and among all the insects that will eat while they can and all the predators that want to eat those juicy buggers.
Like a insect happy hour :)

I saw this overgrown and blooming cabbage plants. It was as tall as me and still had quite a lot of not so small white flowers opening. The stem will probably bloom until it is cur down. Bottom of it had seedpods nearly ready and the top was still producing buds.

Of course few types of bees could not resist it.

A tiny little bug :)

And then, in one of the flowers something dark moved.

Crab Spiders (I know they are not insects) are my second favourite after Jumping Spiders.
They do not build webs to hunt. They will sit inside of a flower, or hide behind petals and will wait. Until an unaware insect comes close enough and then in a split second they will attack it and kill it.

Most of the time they will also blend with a flowers, this one looks like it belongs somewhere else.

Stunning photos especially those first two of the bee. They are so clear and detailed. We need to mind those little guys. Many don't realise their significance to humanity for pollination.

They are super cute little guys! Pity they don't wanna visit my balcony more often. I could shoot them whenever :p

Hey great shots! One fact about bees in case you didn't know: "If bees disappear from the planet Earth, man as a species has about 4 years to live. Without bees, there is no pollination, there would be no fruit, no food or even people."
I'm not sure about the statement, but it was said by Albert Einstein. It's 99% accurate then I guess :D

Thanks!
I don't know how accurate that is. There are other pollinators that do the job too. Bees could be the main ones though. I wonder if it could happen that if there is no bees, others would take over.

But if they extinct.. humans deserve to extinct too 🤷
