A Beautiful Javanese Grasshopper Nymph - Valanga Nigricornis [EN] // Una Hermosa Ninfa de Saltamontes Javanés - Valanga Nigricornis [ES]

A small nocturnal visit that was saved from the jaws of Esperancita and Sombra, because this pair resembles Dracula's servant, they cannot see a cricket or a cockroach because they want to eat it right away, not without first playing with them. Let's say I'm not a lover of crickets and grasshoppers, but I can't help but say that they are really beautiful, if annoying, creatures.

This one we see here is a nymph of Javanese Grasshopper - Valanga Nigricornis, yes, a nymph, that is to say that it still has to grow, this grasshopper does not get to become a locust, however, it is considered a pest for a couple of trees, which does not represent a great risk for the ecosystems, except for the oil palm and the rubber tree.

They take between 6 and 8 months in larval stage buried in the ground, then hatch in the wet season and spend some time as a nymph and then mature to become adult grasshoppers, it is said that they reach the adult stage in the dry season, the truth is that I hope not to find these nymphs turned into adults, because they are one of the insects that bother me most.

This little guy was about 30 millimeters in size, a little over an inch, and really his color at this stage is vibrant and very striking, so I say that he was saved from Esperancita not seeing him, because it is almost impossible not to see him.

Yes, taking pictures at night and with a cell phone usually ends in disaster, so let's just say I had some luck this time! I couldn't pass up that beautiful color!
