We name this butterfly in Russian 'Лимонница', Lemonee (Gonepteryx rhamni in Lat.). They are very common here, nevertheless this Summer I just saw the first Lemonee today. Luckily, it was sunny day and the lady was in a good mood to pose me a bit. We change 3 locations in 2 minutes, after that she left me with a feeling I nailed some shots.
location: Russian countryside July 2020 natural light
camera/lens: Canon 350D Tamron 60mm raw-conv
f 11 t 1/800 ISO 400 --

And now, more macros from previous week.

И еще несколько снимков за другие дни.

of these in the post, two grasshoppers do like to jump! but sometimes they let me come close and pose for shots. I was happy with the grey-brown grasshopper, he didnt move and I made a lot of close-ups.

tnks for the !BEER

Excellent close ups of that Gonepteryx rhamni Butterfly!

Here in the UK we call it 'Brimstone Butterfly'

Brimstone is an old word for Sulphur. When it is in a solid state Sulphur is yellow, hence the name :-)

aha, intresting! huge TNKS for providing an ENglish name.
I remember from Chemistry lessons, Sulphur is pale yellow :P
if you are curious about the 2nd Russian name
('Limonniza', obviously, is for the Lemon colour)
their larvae primarily occupy the plant of 'Krushina' (a russian name of a bush), thus the second name of this butterfly is 'Krushinniza'.

ps. happy that you enjoyed the pics. getting good close-ups is always a sum of a few factors, this time I was lucky to have all benefits :P

Thanks for the info on the Russian names (I did guess it was the Lemon colour haha!)

Agreed. When people see good macro pictures they always ask what camera or lens I use... when in reality good pictures require patience and lots of luck!

No... I don't just comment and read a post title. I commented on the butterfly because that's my focus. The rest of the bugs are okay.

очень правильная мысль. yспеете попрактиковаться осенью на грибах и листочках, если что, и к следующему лету будете во всеоружии и наготове. @karianna
