Betting Odds This Weekend

Kind of a no brainer as the safety car has odds of 1.40 to be used against 2.75 for no appearance. I expect to see it more than once at least. Last week we had 9 cars that didn't complete the race and had to retire for various reasons.

Ferrari's updated aero package for this weekend. Looks like they had everything wrong as nothing has stayed the same.

I am not a betting man so I have never really taken notice of various sporting odds. I know these days it isn't just the result people bet on but there are plenty of other bets that are more profitable.

This weekend we have a repeat of the Austrian Grand Prix which has been renamed The Styrian Grand Prix. Formula One stipulates that each race has to have a different name and being a back to back race this is the reason why. The Red Bull Ring is in the state of Styria so hence the name change.

Back to looking at the betting odds for this weekend. Nothing really stands out as a banker except one which I will get to further in the piece. The normal odds expected for the drivers final standings in the race with Hamilton,Bottas and Verstappen favorites. Hamilton is at 1.90 for the win, Bottas 3.50 and Verstappen at 4.30. These are gambles though as after what we saw anyone of these 3 could win it. I don't think anyone else will get a look in and possibly would if I was a gambler consider a small bet on Verstappen.
Leclerc and Vettel are at 41.0 and 51.0 respectively and who knows what changes Ferrari have mad to their car this week. Putting a bet possibly on a podium finish may be safer than the outright win as they are just too far behind. Vettel and LeClerc are at 6.00 for a top 3 finish but which one?

Looking at the side bets that accompany the race there is one that I would bet on and seems like a fair bet. last weekend we saw the safety car deployed on two different occasions and I expect it to appear at some point again this week. Drivers who missed out last weekend will take more chances to get into the point sand reliability is still an issue for most teams. This bet will give you a return of 1.40 for every dollar you bet. That isn't that bad considering I would say the chances are better than high as there is also rain expected this week. Unfortunately this bet will not make you rich but then it isn't really a gamble either.

Anyone who gambles after one race of the season when there were so many race retirements needs to have their head read as that would just be plain nuts. I can understand a flutter after 4 or 5 races but not at this stage and why the safety car bet stands out more than the others. If I had $100 to lose and wanted some fun then yes I would bet on that this weekend and side step all the other offerings.
