Can Chelsea Recover?

Chelsea is one of the big sides in the English Premier League and they have won several trophies in time past. It's rather sad that of recent, they haven't been doing so very well as a team. I can't even recall the last time Chelsea lifted a trophy or even make it to the finals. Is their problem a coaching one or that of players? If you ask me, I would say it is both.

Starting from the players, a good number of them lack high quality hence, reasons for their poor performances. Ever since the departure of Petr Cech, Chelsea haven't been able to get a worthy replacement. So, we see a lot of flaws in the goal area. In the aspect of coaches, it hasn't been that bad but the choice of Frank Lampard wasn't a good one. His sacking was imminent but it was just a matter of time.

Chelsea is too big a club to hand it to a first timer; Lampard would have at least started as an assistant coach or better still headed a smaller club like Stephen Gerard did before handing him a bigger responsibility. He was poor in player selections such that Chelsea didn't even have a standard first team before he was fired. The blues men aren't that bad but Lampard didn't just know how to use them properly.

Though sacked by the Chelsea owner, he still remains a legend of the West London side. Lampard made various contributions to the glory Chelsea has today. I'm certain he will use this period to develop more in the job of coaching. In the future, he'll sure make a better coach.

The incoming coach will have to do a lot of work to get Chelsea back into the top four because they are really really lagging behind. Overall, this season hasn't been all rosy with all the big clubs as each team has had its share of pain. However, the sooner you realize and recover, the better cause time is really running out. As for now, I can't say who will lift the trophy but I hope my favourite team wins - Liverpool FC!
