Manchester City humbled at the Etihad Stadium by the Foxes

The greatest shocker just yet in Premier League came on Sunday night at the Etihad Stadium where Leicester City - a one time Premier League champions humiliated their opponents, Manchester City in their stadium. Leicester City came out victorious in the meeting with a scoreline of two goals to five after full time. No one expected that to happen and if you ask me I tipped Manchester City to win being that they were at home and it's still early in league where they need points. The odds were not in favour of Leicester City but alas! they turned things around. Kudos to the Foxes.

Jamie Vardy proved to be world class yet another time after scoring his first hat-trick for the season. Last season, he won the Premier League golden boat and this season, he has already begun his scoring spree. Interestingly, the first goal in the game came from the Algerian, Riyad Mahrez following a wonderful strike in the first four minute of the game. After this, I expected Manchester City to take full possession of the game and score even more in the first but it was not so.

Just before half-time of the game following the pressure from Leicester City, they were being awarded a penalty by the referee. Jamie Vardy capitalized on this to net his first goal in the 37th minutes bringing the game to a tie at half-time. Coming in to the second 45 minutes of the game, there were five goals. Jamie Vardy scored his second goal at the 54th minute and then scored again from a spot kick at 58 minutes into the game.

This increased the momentum of the Foxes in game leading to their fourth goal in the 77th minutes by James Maddisson. Manchester City looked really frustrated and were somewhat becoming disorganized, lacking composure and possession of the ball. However, Nathan Are wrote his name on the score sheet after scoring for City at the 84th minutes. But City weren't done just yet, the Foxes found the back of the net for the fifth time following a well played spot kick by Youri Tielemans in the 88th minutes. The game then ended 2-5 in favour of Manchester City. What a rush!!!

Leicester City must be really proud of themselves after that display while Pep Guardiola have a lot of work to do with his squad. We hope the Foxes don't relent but build more momentum and continue in their form. They really need to stay focused for their next game.

Meanwhile, it was Manchester City's second outing in the Premier League this season and it never ended well for them. Their first meeting was with Wolverhampton Wanderers where Manchester City won the home team by three goals to one. Leicester City have been on top form so far in the league. The Foxes have comfortable gathered nine points in the three fixtures so far. Leicester City got their first three points from West Bromich Albion after winning with three goals to nil. In their second meeting with Burnley at home, they scored four goals past Burnley who only saw the back of the next twice.

Right now in Premier League table, Leicester City is number one having nine points while Manchester City have only three points, which keeps them at the 13th position in the ranking. Manchester City will be hosted by Leeds United in their next game. I'm sure they will be all out to collect all three points in this coming match.

The Premier League looks really interesting and competitive such that one cannot closely predict who will lift the trophy in the end. I also know it's rather too early to start talking about who will win as only three legs have been played. However, as a Liverpool FC fan and lover, I would love them to retain the trophy.
