I've been quite worked up lately due to my mom's ill health. I really miss the rock-solid mum I used to know. It hurts more because she has to go through these bouts of sick episodes, and there’s almost nothing I can do besides be by her, ensure she takes her meds, make her meals and pray for her.

Últimamente he estado bastante trabajada debido a la mala salud de mi madre. Realmente echo de menos a la madre sólida como una roca que solía conocer. All the while I’ve been acting like some macho daughter, but I’m really a mess on the inside. For the first time, I have really paid attention to every line on my mum’s face, wrinkles, the feel of her skin, and the greying of her hair…and I’m well aware of the fact that she’ll just keep aging and it just breaks me further. I want this woman to stay young forever.

Todo el tiempo he estado actuando como una hija machista, pero en realidad soy un desastre por dentro. Ahora, no sé si éste es el lugar adecuado para contenidos como éste, pero éste es literalmente mi refugio, así que espero que lo entiendas.

I’ve been away from here(Hive) mostly because I’ve been busy with a program that I can’t really talk about right now. I’m currently in the middle of exams and I just got lucky to have had my last papers postponed by a week. I’ve been home since Monday this week and I had earlier planned to leave the very next day., But here I am, mummy’s big baby, too scared and paranoid to leave mum’s side.

He estado ausente de aquí(Hive) sobre todo porque he estado ocupado con un programa del que no puedo hablar ahora mismo. Actualmente estoy en medio de los exámenes y he tenido la suerte de que mis últimos trabajos se han pospuesto una semana. Estoy en casa desde el lunes de esta semana y antes había planeado irme al día siguiente, pero aquí estoy, el gran bebé de mamá, demasiado asustado y paranoico como para alejarme de ella.

I live in Lagos, and so do my folks but every time I am away from home, it feels like a part of me is missing, even my mum doesn’t make it any easier with her incessant calls for me to visit home. This amazing human literally has my ‘mumu button’ on speed dial.

I consider myself blessed and lucky to still have both my parents despite my mum’s health at the moment, and I seriously don’t know how my friends or people without either or both parents navigate through life, it must be extremely tough. I cannot even begin to fathom the void that they hold in their heart.

Vivo en Lagos, al igual que mis padres, pero cada vez que estoy fuera de casa, siento que falta una parte de mí, incluso mi madre no lo hace más fácil con sus incesantes llamadas para que vaya a casa. Esta increíble persona tiene literalmente mi "botón de la mamá" en marcación rápida.

Me considero bendecida y afortunada por tener todavía a mis dos padres a pesar de la salud de mi madre en este momento, y realmente no sé cómo mis amigos o la gente sin uno o ambos padres navegan por la vida, debe ser extremadamente duro. No puedo ni empezar a comprender el vacío que tienen en su corazón.

My mum is the person I love the most in the entire universe and I can’t begin to imagine a world without her. Heck, I will not dare imagine or visualize one. I’m positive that she’ll make a 100% recovery soon. A fighter that one.
