Another Hometown Roam Session

Does every walk you take leave new impressions? Do some of them?

Have you noticed that the slower you go along a certain route, the more observant you become? I do think observation requires a special attitude. Training or predisposition. Or conditioning based on activities you repeat.

How new was my hometown for me?

The less I go there, the more I tend to find new things, and the more interesting old things become. I believe this is all normal and you know what I am talking about.

Nostalgia again? Perhaps a little.

The pre-Sunset light reflected upon the windows of the town's high floors. Meaning, the sixth floor. That was our standard for high. I think we had some eight-story apartment buildings that held the record. Although, those were mostly built in the flat part of the town while smaller houses line the hills and actually provide higher vantage points than that.

Turning in the direction of the sunset itself, I was able to catch a moment of western sky above the roof of a convenience store.

So, the time of that walk was mostly dusk. Still, enough daylight remaining to shoot a frame or two while walking down old streets.

The sign above is the name (and number, obviously) of a street. A short one behind the yard of an elementary school. So, you see, it's quite...wait for it...Oldschool.

The name of the street is that of a character from a national epic novel written more a century ago. It is one word for The One Who Fights Bears. A nickname earned. Not related to the town.

Same street, some interesting local architecture left to oblivion.

Speaking of which, here's another demo of such contrasts. Modern windows and reflections of old structures that were something special once...

...The one from the color photo being an especially curious case, although this frame does not show its arches, columns, and frontal staircase. The frame below hints at them a bit...

...So some of the windows and panes are new since there are offices still functioning inside or office space being available for rent. An insurance company, even. One would think they would take care of one of the most elaborate facades visible from the central pedestrian area.

But. One. Should. Not. Presume.

Peace!

Thanks for coming with me and good luck during your own explorations!

Yours,

Manol
