How to erect a scaffolding in two hours 在英國建棚架
We have some renovation works at home recently and had to put up some scaffolding. I took this opportunity to capture how the guys did it. It was quite fascinating to see how they built it from the ground upwards in two hours, and how how well they worked as a team.
最近家中需要搭棚架做些維修工程 ,我當然不會放過這個機會錄影搭棚的過程。搭棚團隊一共有三位師傅,老闆和兒子還有一位小幫手,負責在地面傳送材料給高空工作兩位師傅。
The most important thing when you do building works in UK, apart from health and safety, is of course the cuppa. That works wonders for everyone that's why I always make sure workers start off work with a nice hot cup of tea.
The team consist of three people, the owner, his son and an apprentice who's main responsibility is to pass on the right materials at the right time to the two guys working high up. I stood outside all morning filming them, it was really quite fascinating to watch. In no time, they had built two platforms already. Then it got a bit chilly for me, and my neck started to ache as I was watching upwards for so long. So I decided to go indoors to get a better view as by that time they had built up to the top floors.
In the video, you'll notice that I have pixalated out the firm's name. That's not because I don't want to show their name, but they had parked on the double yellow lines, and I didn't want to get them into trouble in case the authorities come across my video. Slim chance I know but I don't want to take any chances!! You never know who's watching!! Hope you enjoy the video.

These are quite the more modern structure. I'm more amaze how the HK ones with the bamboo still in the works these days.
Yes, those are really quite something, especially when they can erect one outside a window high up in the building with nothing underneath to support it. Do you get them in Singapre at all?
No. Some years ago, we still had similar but poles rather then bamboo but now it's also similar metal structures that piece together. Even that not common, we have mostly mobile crane type and that was what I saw used when they were repainting the 4 storey blocks near my home.
