Birthdays are no fun to me. Most times they come before I even notice them, at other times my friends are the ones excited about it and I'm just there like "meh".

I don't like celebrating birthdays, I mean I'm getting older and close to death, all things being equal. What am I celebrating! My birthday is coming up in a few days and I'm not excited.

There's the other fact that people say I should be grateful that I am alive to be celebrating my birthday. First of all, everyday I'm alive is a reason for celebration. I don't have to wait for a particular day to be happy about being alive.

Overall I don't celebrate birthdays but last year was different that's why I'm tagging it my most memorable birthday. Early last year @nonsowrites and I got together, he was my coursemate so of course I knew we had the same birth month.

He's not so particular about birthdays also but he wanted to celebrate with me last year, I couldn't say no. So we started planning to celebrate both our birthdays together since they are just 8 days apart.

The plan was to invite a few of my friends and a few of his to come celebrate with us. I basically have 1 friend so thinking of people to invite was stressing me out. Since my friend is a social butterfly I tasked her with getting more people for the party - I can't begin to invent friends I don't have😂😂

Told @nonsowrites I don't want a crowd (I consider more than 5 people a crowd) but he didn't listen. My friend and him decided to invite the whole Lagos, okay 22 people but you get the gist, it's a lot for me🤧🤧. In their opinion they just want to celebrate me so I had to go with it.

We decided to have a beach party, and then just go home after. I wasn't sure I'd enjoy myself because everything started off. From the cab we boarded having a bad tire, to my cake smashing, to my friend forgetting her purse where all our money was on a boat because of fear😨 and then to the beach. Jeez, I had to go back to look for the purse which luckily for us I found.

With the initial happenings, I already had a mindset that it was a bad idea and I wasn't going to have fun, I was so stressed out at this point, but I was so wrong. I had a great time. Literally everyone showed up for me. They brought gifts and stuff and they were so happy to just be there with me. I wouldn't be that excited about someone else's birthday, so I wasn't expecting much but they proved me wrong and it made me really happy!

And yes, that was the day I launched my crochet making skill as most of my female guests wore a crochet beach outfit I made. I was so proud of myself and that motivated me more on crochet making. Everything went better than I had expected and I was so grateful first to God, to my boyfriend, to my dearest friend and then to all my guests.

It's almost that time of the year again(my birthday) and I can't say I'm exceptionally thrilled. But I look forward to how the day will go seeing as most plans I had couldn't be achieved and yet I'm not totally bothered. One thing I know is, more birthdays will come, and each one will definitely be different from the previous so I'll just go with the flow. Anyways, happy birthday to me in advance.
