Uche never suited her taste of man but for a reason unknown to her, she fell cheaply for him, as she watch his unpleasant nature faded suddenly before her eyes. she had reasons to have believed he bewitched her but she never cared, all that mattered then was that she loved him and he did the same. She had known him back from her school days, he was known for his drunkenness and womanizing, a complete opposite of a man she had dreamt to be espoused with "Maybe life is using my words against me" she thought reminiscing on how she had swore before her friends not to have anything to do with him, but here she was betrothed and madly in love with him.

"Ada! Ada" her mum called. "Yes mum" she answered as she hurried to join her in the kitchen. "Must I always call you twice before you answer" the mum questioned angrily. " Sorry, I did not hear you call" she replied. " You're thinking again, Ada," the mum called out softly ," I will advice you as a mother, suspend your marriage until you're old enough to manage a home, you're still young".
" I can't, beside dad told me he had married you at age 16" Ada retort " mine is fair to marry at 18".
" I have done my mistake and that's why I don't want any of my children , most especially my daughters not to follow the path I took, it's one of my regrets,I never got a chance to finish my education".
"Women education doesn't matter, we will still end up in the kitchen" Ada said.
" No, not in this era of civilization, the women who are educated also holds great position in the society. Didn't you see mama iyabo"? The mum Said.
" Am betrothed and in few weeks time, I will be wedded, pray for blessings for us and not try to hinder our peaceful union".

Many years later, Ada sat at the threshold of her house with her fist pressed on her jaw, nodding her head. Her face darkened around her eyes, tears dropping "My mother was right, love got my thoughts blinded , I forced ny betrothal in an attempt to make him all mine" she thought," gradually I had destroyed my future, this was never my dream, how could I had fallen cheap to been betrothed and denied my pride of the future". She sneezed in the cataarh from her running nose trying to wipe off her tears when she had "mummy, are you crying"? She looked around to see her children staring at her, " Now that you can see my tears, remember this in the future when you do be old enough to be given advice".she told them.
