"A memorable trip: My Journey To Portharcourt

Lucky enough for me, travel has always been part of my life since I grew up in Lagos and i am an Akwa Ibomite. I often visit my home town with my family to visit my grandparent or most times, travel to my unlce's place for a holiday.

One of the travels that stands out of all the travels I have made over the years is my travel to Portharcourt where I was lucky to visit there seaport.

We decided to travel to Port Harcourt because we had a program. If you see the picture below, those are my friends I went together.

So, that faithful day, I and my friends were taken around the town of Abuloma Port Harcourt there I saw their port where oil ships are moored and intra-city transported via speed boats are coordinated.

I wasn't told that we will be going anywhere near water since I am among those who have the belief that "Water is sweet inside cup"

I am always afraid of rivers and this was my first time going close to a big river even though most times I see them when traveling. I was so scared to get closer.

Getting to see their seaport at Portharcourt was a memorable one for me because I was able to see for the first time a seaport.

I was so amazed when I saw people paid money just to travel through the sea because it was their only way to their businesses, farms, and other places they needed to go.

I was shocked when I saw their children happily going into the boat with confidence and courageou while I was having goosebumps and freaking out standing on the shore 🤣🤣🤣. I am sure you can identify me among those people standing there.

I couldn't take a step away from where I was standing, without shivering like i was going to fall down. I remember when one person in the group suggested we board the boat to look around, I was already freaking out telling them I wasn't going anywhere close the water. Finally we went back without entering and I felt relaxed once more.

At the end of my stay in Portharcourt, the people of Port Harcourt were so glad we came to visit them as their made us promise we will come back which we couldn't because of the pandemic.

I was so excited when our days of visit ended that i was bale to see a sea shore even though i was scared out there.

Our journey home was longer than we expected becasue our vehicle broke down. WE were lucky enough that it stopped on the road lucky enough, we saw someone who fixed it up for us and we continued our journey. All through the journey home, I talked about the sea, their food, the experiences and opinions, and the new friends we met.

We bought things, and laughed over those who felt pressed on the way when we finally started the journey.

It is crazy how the water always feels like it is literally pulling you into it. When I was at Bayelsa, it pretty much felt the same for me.
