With all that is already going on in your country, what else is there to be proud of?

At the moment, anyone who pays attention to global news must have already heard an earful of shady things about Nigeria.

From the issue of bad governance to the non-availability of core amenities. The issue of insecurity is also a big deal and the fact that our economy is dwindling is no longer a jaw-dropping gist. It's almost as if no news is good news.

Even our currency has lost bragging right locally and internationally.

Whenever we Nigerians write about our country, we end up remembering how unfair a lot of things are over here. Well, Nigeria as a whole hasn't always been a paradise. We are in ruins and everyone knows it. We don't deny it because there is no point in doing so.

Do you still wonder why immigration offices are always getting overwhelmed with the number of people that come there daily to validate their international passports.

The simple truth is that anyone that has an opportunity to Japa (run) will not think twice. It's a no-brainer!

There is already a general perception that once you travel out of Nigeria, you will be able to enrich your pocket and amass wealth. This same perception has made people take bold steps and explore opportunities outside the country to rid themselves of the overstretched imbalance that is going on in the country.

But then, how many people can afford to cross our border just because they feel like leaving?

Only a handful. Some left illegally but most of them are not alive to tell their tale. Funny enough, people will still choose to live as illegal immigrants in a more decent Country instead of waking up each day in this country.

With all that is already going on, what else is there to be proud of?

We can go on to complain and rant about the irregularities going on here but, at the same time, it makes me to wonder if there is anything that puts a smile on our face as Nigerians.

Nigeria is not perfect, but I'm yet to hear of a perfect country. There is always an element of discomfort that is experienced by citizens of any Country. With that in mind, we've got to hold onto any shred of dignity that is attached to being from this country. We've got to be proud of our motherland and possibly do our part towards making it the way we envisioned.

When it comes to what I'm proud of as a Nigerian, I will strictly speak for myself!

I like the fact that a whole lot of us put on a smile every day even when it's clear that we are passing through thick and thin. We just face each day with unreal optimism. Suffering and smile is a very tiring thing but we do it so well that it's becoming a genetic part of our existence.

Trust me, we've seen it all in our country but our sense of humour is still intact. I mean, that's one good way to maintain your sanity in this world of insanity. By the end of the day, l may not be able to scream that l love Nigeria, but l certainly love Nigerians.

Now, whether Nigerian or not, let's hear what you love about being from your Country.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma

You know what? When I read articles on Hive about other countries and how their government treats them, I am thankful for my Country.

You do not know how lucky we are, except for the corrupt practices that put us out of touch with other countries, we are one big country that should be appreciated if not for anything, but, for the fact that we still find reasons to smile on a daily basis

I am not saying it's wrong to seek greener pastures elsewhere nor I'm I saying Nigeria is perfect, no, we are far from being perfect but we are trying

It will take the way your blood is heating up to create that change you are looking for

Thank goodness, the advent of blockchain has opened our eyes to civilization. You and I are the ones who should prepare to change the story line of this country

It will take only a man with insights to lead the country. Maybe, this is what fate is preparing us for.

Anytime, you think about how terrible Nigeria is, write down, the things that could have been done differently, because one day you may be given an opportunity to govern, and trust me you will need some visions pen down somewhere to work with

That's a Fabulous thing to note about Nigerians. We've already made it part of us to take tough situations with a smiling face.

Truth is, when you make comparison between Nigeria and other countries, you will see alot of reasons that are enough to make you happy that you are a Nigerian.

The issue is that the bad things we pass through here can be very heart wrenching. It's painful for us to be dealing with issue that are not supposed to be faced by any sane country in 21st century. But, what we get is what it is and there is no sign of a positive change. Except if a sort of consciousness will come into play in everybody's heart.

We may feel like running to another country but living as an expat isn't an easy thing especially in some countries that are not very welcoming to expats. Another big issue is that being black will also be a discriminating factor in some part of the world. But that's one of the risk that people are willing to take.

I would say that alot of us are already exposed to facts about happenings around the world. Hopefully, we will be able to enjoy being Nigerians as time goes on

Yes, this is true

Truth is, when you make comparison between Nigeria and other countries, you will see alot of reasons that are enough to make you happy that you are a Nigerian.

I am glad that you agree

The issue is that the bad things we pass through here can be very heart wrenching. It's painful for us to be dealing with issue that are not supposed to be faced by any sane country in 21st century. But, what we get is what it is and there is no sign of a positive change. Except if a sort of consciousness will come into play in everybody's heart.

This is a really sad reality

We may feel like running to another country but living as an expat isn't an easy thing especially in some countries that are not very welcoming to expats. Another big issue is that being black will also be a discriminating factor in some part of the world. But that's one of the risk that people are willing to take.

It's not easy at all.

I would say that alot of us are already exposed to facts about happenings around the world. Hopefully, we will be able to enjoy being Nigerians as time goes on

Let us continue to live in hope. Nigeria will be a better place for everyone soon. Thanks, buddy

Hahaha what you love about the country is what I love about the country. The way they joke about almost everything is overwhelming.

I remember how my fellow school mates made stickers of our Chancellor just to make fun of him for not letting us resume, the stickers were so funny. They didn't see anything wrong with it but just laughed at it as much as they could.

Anither thing I would say I love about my country is our delicacies, I don't think any other country's delicacies will beat that for me. But then, I can't just conclude yet until I visit another country. But for now, I love my country's meals.

I just keep hoping for the day things will take a different and better turn for Nigerians to end their suffering and smiling act.

I can still recall seeing that sticker made about the Chancellor. I think, that's just a few of the countless instances where people choose to see humour in jaw dropping situations.

I like how Nigerians always see the good in anything no matter how bad it can be. That's just a snippet of how understanding we can be in such cases.

Anither thing I would say I love about my country is our delicacies,

Okay oooo, babe has come again 😂. Choppy babe. Well, l know the way you love it so, come on, let's go and enjoy our Scattered meals 😋

Hopefully, we will see that happy day. A day that we will be proud of everything about Nigeria.

Well, bad governance exist in every country of the world, only that it comes in different perspectives. Our country isn't as bad as we perceive. Corruption is a world endemic, eating deep into the fabrics of societies.
Believe it or not, the worse corruption isn't just from Africa, it's from those western nations where it is operated on another pedestal.
I love it here. The drama, the fun the laughs and the fears are still mild when compared with other continents or nations.
The level of freedom we share here is one way too free.
Except for the twitter ban in recent time, there may be other violations of human rights but suggested by some school of thoughts, it's for the safety of our polity as a nation. Everything has come back to normal afterwards.

Hahaha... I know what you mean. It's just like when you see how politicians and prominent people lobby eachother in the western world. They can decide the fate of a country over a lunch break. That's the heart of corruption.

I would say that the difference between theirs and ours is that they do theirs intelligently and they care about covering their tracks well to avoid being in the wrong side of public sentiment.

But here, old men just display inhumanity to their countrymen and they don't give a damn about public opinion/sentiment. Well, they have already thrown their pride to become dogs. What more can we ask for?

Freedom is something we get on a whole new level. It's as if we enjoy a whole lot of freedom but we are still trapped in the most mysterious of ways 😂.

This is a funny country. I can't help but laugh at some things that goes on here
