My Proud Moment

I have been trying to remember my most proud moment and it took me longer to recall. I have had just a few times I was actually proud of myself, maybe because I don't have a very big accomplishment yet and haven't fulfilled half of my goals, but nevertheless, every stage of my life had something I was happy to have completed. I was privileged to serve as a president during my university year, it was a big task coupled with my academic pursuit. There was a need to lead with an example and maybe change the narrative. There was always this saying, "the responsibility in the fellowship doesn't allow the president to graduate with a good result" . It was so until my tenure.

I didn't study as hard as the other students, I never read till day break, and I missed a lot of lectures attending other duties and yet graduated with a first class. That was something not common among presidents. The president who once upon a time graduated with a good result had a second class upper credit. The truth is, I never worked hard for it, I just did my best and had faith that it would change the narrative and I did it with the help of God.

It was like a yoke that had been broken when it was announced in the fellowship and the appraisal that followed. I would be lying to say I wasn't proud to have changed the story they once held onto. Before then, most people rejected this position because it brings down their CGP. It meant working twice the way they do and still end up with an upper credit as the best result they could have but that idea changed, people started to believe it was possible to make first class as a president. I was given a gift for my excellence, each time I look at it, I'm proud to know I changed a narrative.

Indeed it's a proud thing to know you changed the narrative and made others believe it was possible to excel amidst other responsibilities
